Makeup Nightmare After CO2 Resurfacing

$3,500
It has been five weeks since the CO2 resurfacing. My face is still red and blotchy, and my complexion is like orange peel. I need to apply makeup to go out, but when I do, the foundation goes into my enlarged pores and I cannot make it look smooth. I have tried to apply powder on top of the foundation and also alone, to no avail. Of course, I use a moisturizer and sun protection 50, which is required after the CO2, and this does not help with the makeup. To think that I was able to go out before the resurfacing without any makeup because my skin looked pretty good! I go to the gym five times a week, but now I would be embarrassed to go with this face. I feel I have ruined my complexion! I would appreciate any suggestions about the makeup issue. By the way, I have tried several brands of foundations and face powders. I even bought BareMineral products because of the Realself reviews from other ladies that had CO2 resurfacing.T I.

The "T I" does not mean anything. I was trying to write "Thank you" to anyone who responds.

Not Sure of Outcome Yet

I'm 67 years old and I have always looked much younger. I had a neck lift in 2014 to correct my neck bands that were sagging a bit. The left was worse than the right. I would say that neck lift improved my bands by 75%. The left band was never really tight after the surgery and I was not happy about it. The scars were only in front and back of my ears and two weeks later they were barely noticeable and I went back to work. Ever since that surgery I have been contemplating having another neck surgery. Now I had not only the lax left band but also my neck skin was starting to sag, so I decided it was time to have the surgery on September 1st. It has been a month and my neck and lower face are tighter (and I love it), but my left band is starting to show again, although it is much better than before. I have cuts on my hair line above and behind my ears and in front and back of my ears. The scars on the hair line behind my ears are still red and very noticeable, and they hurt. The ones in the back of my ears are also red and they also hurt. This never happened with my first neck surgery. In a nutshell, I'm happy with the surgery; I do not say very happy because of the left band already peeking out and the scars. I will discuss this with my surgeon when I see her for the follow-up in two weeks. I will post my progress again when I reach the three month mark.

One Month After

Yesterday it was a month I had the CO2 resurfacing. My face is blotchy red and my complexion is like orange peel. I have no more burning, just a slight discomfort. I always looked much younger than I was. Although my complexion was not perfect because I had noticeable pores, I always went out without makeup and felt comfortable. I wanted to do the CO2 to help with the very fine lines on my upper lip and the small bags that I have on the inside corner of my upper eyelids, but I have had no improvement in those areas. I also thought my pores would get tighter from the reviews of other ladies who state that their complexions look almost like a baby's. Not in my case! Now I cannot go out without makeup and still I do not feel comfortable with my look. I definitely look worse than before the procedure. I feel that I have been through a lot of pain and spent a lot of money for a procedure that has made me look worse.

Thank you for you honesty, so sorry you're not satisfied with your results, you should go back and demand they do something for you like IPL, anything to improve the skin. Now I know I'll never consider this.
Everybody does not react the same to the treatment. There are many ladies extremely satisfied and that is why I decided to do the resurfacing. I do not think that my results have to do with the expertise of my doctor (highly recommended), but with myself. In my case, I was happy with my skin and I did not have any wrinkles; just the very fine (you can see in my before pictures) lines above my lip. But please do not be deter by my experience because you may be one of the happy women. My skin is pretty white, but I am Latin and maybe that has to do with my results. I have been reading RealSelf comments and It looks like pale American women have the best results.
