Prepare for the pain.

UPDATED FROM laz1960

One week post treatment.

I had to go back to the Dr. for a post treatment check up and was prescribed steroids for the swelling and itching. The swelling has gone down quite a bit but I developed a rash on my chest and the itching is very intense. I am also taking Benadryl which helps a little but not very much. The itching on my face and chest was so bad last night that I barely slept. On the bright side though my face is going through a rapid peeling process and I can see new healthy skin underneath. I will see the Dr. tomorrow and get an idea of how I am progressing.

I went through the same awful healing process and intense itching - it was terrible on my hands. I am allergic to Benadryl and other antihistamines, so I found that dipping a Qtip in aquaphor and gently running it over my itchy skin helped, and didn’t irritate or hurt the fragile skin.

I think you’ll really appreciate the results and find that it was well worth a few weeks of discomfort.
Thank you for the tip will try anything at this point.
I had the same procedure and the pain was intense. But almost 2 years later my skin looks amazing. I’m very careful to use 50SPF when I’m in the sun. But the results are beautiful and you’re going to be so happy with them. Just remember that this will pass.
Thank you for the words of encouragement! I'll keep my eye on the prize!!
how are you doing? dont give up hope, Ive seen so many great results after 2.5 weeks, everything worth having takes time. Youre gonna be beautiful!
Much better, thank you! I think that I just wasn't prepared for the initial reaction to the treatment and was caught off guard as to what to expect. It has been 10 days and my face has completely peeled and I am anxiously waiting for my new beautiful skin!!

Prepare for the Pain.

Smart skin laser was used 4 days at an aggressive setting due to deep lines around the mouth and forehead. I took 2 Valium and 2 ultracet 1 hour before the procedure. While waiting for the meds to kick in I was slathered with a thick layer of numbing cream. Nothing done preprocedure prepared me for the pain during the procedure. I had my face, neck and chest done all which took approximately 1.5 hours. My face felt like it was on fire for a few hours after but ice packs did eventually take the burning away. I am now 4 days post procedure and still swollen and itchy. I am posting a pictures of my progression so you can see my reaction to the laser.

Is this a typical response to the procedure?
I had it done at an aggressive setting because I was told the results would be so much better than with a lighter treatment. I don't know if this is a typical response as I can only tell you my experience.
I had mine done only on top and bottom of my mouth to my chin. It felt like a sunburn. I had no pain medication because I didn’t needed. I don’t know if it was aggressive or not. It’s been 12 days and it’s still red.
The laser was used at a high setting so I would only have to go through one recovery period. I went for a post treatment check up yesterday 10/22/18 and was given steroids to reduce the swelling and was told that sometimes the reaction can be like I experienced in some people but not all.
I hope you get great results. It's a shame in this day and age that a procedure has to be so painful. You would think the doctors could do nerve blocks or something.
How are you doing? Please keep updating. I'm curious!!
