I went for my first Picosure treatment yesterday for two tattoos. The larger tattoo is on my right shoulder and is about 5 x 6 inches. The smaller tattoo is a black outline on my inner right arm, about 2 x 2.5 inches. The procedure took about 15 minutes. I elected not to use the topical Lidocaine. They used a machine to blow cool air on the area they were treating. The sensation was a stinging pinching kind of pain. I've never had anything similar done and would say it was about a 6/10. The quickness of the procedure makes it a lot more bearable. After they finished with the laser, they applied Biafine and a bandage to the area.
The office was about forty five minutes from my home and the pain on the drive home was horrible. I've don't get sunburnt, so I didn't know what to expect. There was an intense hot pulsing sensation for about an hour. I took a pill for the pain when I got home. The doctor said to keep the original bandage on for the first 24 hours. The wound wept a lot overnight and a lot today at work, soaking through my bandage and through my shirt. I didn't feel anything today but dampness from the weeping and the larger tattoo is blistered, while the small tattoo is just red. I just took off the bandage and plan to bandage it again overnight. The office instructed me to use Biafine emulsion cream twice daily (once in the morning and evening.) I ordered my cream about two weeks ago and was supposed to arrive today via USPS but it isn't here yet, so I'll be using Aquaphor until then,
So everything is pretty good so far. I'm not sure if I'll be lucky enough to achieve complete removal on the larger tattoo, or just achieve fading for a cover up. I was quoted $625 per session and they estimated 5+ treatments. Based on other Picosure treatments on Real Self, I anticipate much more than five sessions. I booked my next session at the end of July, eight weeks out.
I didn't tell anyone at work about my treatments because I didn't feel like explaining. I keep my tattoos covered at work. For some reason, three people in my office patted me on the back today. The universe seems to have a sixth sense about these things...LOL.

Thanks! Luckily, I normally sleep on my left side, so I haven't had too much trouble sleeping yet. My blisters went away on day four. They really didn't hurt at all but I kept it bandaged until they drained.

10 Day Follow Up

I had blistering on the large tattoo from the second to fourth day and scabs from the fourth to ninth day. The light blue responded really well and I can see overall fading and broken lines. I'm wondering if I'll have to go somewhere else for the pinks/reds as I've read that PicoSure doesn't work well for these colors. The outline did not get blisters and scabbed very lightly. I can see some broken and thinner lines. Sorry I don't have before pictures for the outline, it's basically what you see in my day 2 pic but with uniform width lines.

PicoSure Have a new laser out FDA approved which connects to the current machine as I have the same issue as you. my DR said it should be in his clinic by August as it had to come from the states. You should ask your clinic if they are going to buy it.

It is fading very nicely. Have the doctor said anything about how many more treatments you would be needing? Good luck

Thanks, no, I haven't even asked. I feel like from looking at other people on here, I'd guess I have at least six more sessions, probably more...I'm spacing out the treatments more than most posters.
Welcome to the community, thank you so much for including us on your journey. I really look forward to following your progress and will be keeping an eye out for your updates. Oh gosh, I can just imagine how annoying it was to be patted on the back at work...you must have been thinking "why today of all days!"
