I had PDT (Levulan) 5 days ago. I have AKs and superficial BCC on my face, and had PDT in order to be proactive and possibly prevent more BCC on my face and avoid Mohs on my face. I was first diagnosed with BCC at 26 and Nodular BCC on my chest at 30yo. Had Mohs 2x on my chest and ended up needing reconstructive surgery and scar revision, it was awful. I'm obviously now terrified to let anyone cut my face. I feel like I was not fully informed regarding how intense and painful PDT would/could be. I had extreme pain during the light treatment (only 4 min under the light) and technician had to stop halfway through so I could take a break. It felt like I was literally being burned. I spent 2 days in bed taking narcotics (which I hate) for the pain. I hear there is no way to tell how a person will react, and I have seen some people review and said they had little to no pain. I am 5 days out and still have pain on my lips and around my mouth and layers of skin are peeling off. I look awful. I documented my journey on YouTube and will try to post the videos here as well. I know it could be so much worse (my younger sister was diagnosed with melanoma 5 years ago) but this treatment has been tough.
