6 week update

Ok, it's been a bit less than 6 weeks since surgery. By now most of the swelling has gone down, but there is still some lumpiness in my armpits where lipo was done. My nipples have gotten a little misshapen, perhaps from me somehow stretching the skin wrong, but it's not a big deal. Some of the pigment has returned to my nipples but sensation hasn't. I don't really have much pain or soreness at this point (only if I stretch the wrong way) and I'm able to lay on my side and stomach pretty comfortably now. This is great since I've been able to return to sleeping in bed rather than in the recliner.

At this point my scars are actually looking a bit worse. From what I've read, this is normal for being a month and a half post-op. It looks much more red, but on the other hand it's also much flatter than it was previously. I've been continuing to use InviCible Scars and massaging the incisions. I did stop wearing the compression garment about a week ago though. In a week or two

I should be able to return to the gym and begin working out again in a week or two. I'm eager to because my back muscles feel very weak, I think because of the month wearing the surgical binder, plus needing to get used to my body's be weight distribution.

I know it was a wall of text, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Lipo

Liposuction is painful, and the recovery is definitely worse than expected. I'm supposed to massage my armpit area, but it's all swollen and filled with hard lumps that are very painful if I apply any pressure to them. At this point it's definitely more painful than the nipple, incisions, or other areas of swelling.

On a good note though, I got Arnicare gel and I feel like it really helps the pain in the middle of my chest on each side of my sternum.

Today has also been my first time just wearing a shirt without the compression vest. My back feels really weird, I feel like I can't fully sit / stand up straight. My back is sore and I think the muscles just need to get used to things.

I'll try to write something more detailed later, but I wanted to at least post some pictures tonight.

Dr Medalie is great. I feel very fortunate to live so close to such a great surgeon. The other members of his staff (His nurse practitioner Andrea and his secretary Valerie) were both extremely helpful and responsive. I am very glad I decided to go to his office for surgery.
