So I'm a little late in writing this since my surgery is in 2 days, but I've found this site to be incredibly helpful as I've gone through this process and wanted to give back!

First off, my stats-I'm 5'3, 105 lbs., and fit a 32a/32b. I'm getting silicone 325 cc's under the muscle...I originally chose 300's but at my preop 2 weeks ago decided to go a bit bigger! Since I have such a small frame anything bigger would be a very tight fit and I have to go with a high profile, but I think they'll look great! This is something I've always wanted to do for myself, and luckily I have a boyfriend who is very supportive and just wants me to be happy. And now here are a few tips and things I've learned:
1. Stop giving a crap about what other people think. You don't have to tell the entire world you're getting a boob job unless you want to...or you can not tell a soul and see who notices! Tell whoever you feel comfortable telling. It may surprise you how accepting people are! I was so nervous to tell people but have received nothing but positive feedback. My coworkers even got me a "boobie bag" and filled it with tons of goodies to help with recovery! Even though people were excited for me, I only told those I was closest to...as for everyone else it's really none of their business and not their concern.
2. Make sure to be well prepared before surgery-arrange for pet or child care if you need it, wash your sheets (cuz who wants to lay in a dirty bed?), do all laundry, clean your house, buy your favorite snacks, prep a few meals, and put everything you think you'll need next to your bed. For example, I stashed some candy, magazines, a heating pad, lotion, lip balm, slippers, straws, pain meds, an extra open front sports bra, and a selfie stick in my nightstand (so I can tak pictures of the new girls whenever I want!).
3. Buy some large ice packs. I got 2 so one would always be cold.
4. Do your research, but don't overthink things-talk to your surgeon about your concerns. I worry about everything and drive myself crazy, so I did a TON of research...like it was obsessive. It was great to be able to talk to my surgeon about everything I found and get his opinion. I kept reading tons of stuff about taking arnica or bromine a few weeks before, but my surgeon said it may or may not make a difference so it was really personal preference. Knowledge is power :)
5. You might get sad before surgery. I know people say you can get depressed afterwards from all the meds, but I've actually been feeling a little sad about losing my itty bitties! It sounds crazy right?! As excited as I am for my surgery, it's bittersweet knowing I've had my girls for almost 30 years and I'll never look the same again. Luckily this doesn't last long, I go back and forth between that and excited about a hundred times a day.
6. Make sure to keep the girls moisturized a few weeks before surgery and leading up to it to avoid stretch marks. I don't know if you can even get stretch marks from implants, but just to be on the safe side I used coconut oil or Shea butter every day! Couldn't hurt!
7. Take care of yourself before surgery. Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and blood thinners. Eat lots of fruits and veggies and cut back on sweets. Not only will this help the recovery process, but since you won't be able to be very active or workout for awhile it'll stop you from gaining any extra weight.
8. Take lots of before pictures! Take pictures in different outfits, bras, and bathing suits as well as with no top. It'll be fun to look at how much you've changed and how much better you look in these things after surgery!
9. If possible wear sizers during normal daily activity. My surgeon had sizers that I got to take home and fill with water to inflate up to my desired cc's which was super nice. I tried them on with almost everything in my closet as well as different bras. I also wore them out shopping and taking care of my horse...anything to see how the size felt and if they got in the way. If you don't have sizers like this you can always make rice sizers, but it's nice to get an idea of what you'll look like after surgery and whether or not your new boobs will affect your activities.

That's all I've got for now...stay tuned for my post surgery update!

Very helpful! Good luck! We share similar anxieties so it was comforting to read. I just scheduled my surgery for the 23rd!

You'll do great!! Good luck! Another tip I thought of...go shopping for some loose or larger tops before your surgery date...that way you don't have to worry about not having anything to wear afterwards! That's what I did and as I'm laying in bed recovering I'm soooo glad I did, the last thing I want to do is go shopping and try stuff on!

The night before surgery

I meant to write last night but with all the running around just didn't have time, so Im updating now. :) I was extremely nervous but kept myself busy by finishing up some things around the house, going to see my parents and my horse one last time since I knew I wouldn't be able to for a few days, and just prepping everything for the next day. My surgeon gave me antibacterial sterile wipes that I had to use after my shower on my entire body to help prevent infection, so I used those and then made sure to wash and straighten my hair since I didn't know when I'll be able to next. My preop instructions said not to shave anywhere 2 days prior, but with it being winter my hair grows super fast and again...not sure when I'll be able to shave, so I did shave. The wipes irritated my legs a bit and made them super itchy, but I had googled it and some girls were told it's ok to shave, others weren't, so I honestly wasn't that worried about it. I ate a late dinner since I knew I wouldn't be able to eat the following morning. I had my clothes set out so I knew exactly what I was going to wear to the hospital which was just a zip up hoodie and yoga pants. I know some people wear button ups, but I felt like buttons would be too difficult to mess with after waking up. Then I tried to get a good nights sleep...my surgery was scheduled for 7:30 am so I had to be there at 6:30, and I woke up at least 5 times between 3-5 am just ready to go!! Here are a few before pics...I have mild pectus excavitum which you can see in the pics, which is the main reason I wanted a BA, to help disguise it.

I have boobs!!!

boobiebarbie23
So this is going to be long, sorry for ranting but just want to provide as much info as possible for you ladies! My surgery was this morning at 7:30...it sucked not being able to have my morning coffee lol. I had to use the antibacterial wipes again and wasn't supposed to wear make up but being a redhead I have naturally light eyelashes so I had to put on just a touch of mascara. I'm also very fair skinned...I refer to my skin color as see-through, not white, lol so I had been using self tanner for the past week. I know the doctors and nurses could care less but I didn't want to blind everyone with my pastyness, and the wipes actually didn't take it all off like I thought they might!

Everyone at the hopital was super nice and made me feel completely comfortable and not embarrassed at all when I told them what I was there for. They had me change into a hospital gown and take everything off (yes, everything!). My boyfriend was able to come sit with me in my room prior to surgery and while I talked with the anesthesiologist, and then my surgeon came to mark my breasts and explain what would happen. Once in the OR and after asking the nurses a few more questions, they gave me the anesthesia which gave me a little burning sensation and then I was out...like I don't even remember falling asleep it was that quick!

They told me I would initially wake up in the OR but I don't remember that at all. I finally came to in my recovery room, the surgery itself took just over an hour and a half. The nurse gave me a perkaset since I was feeling pretty sore, and let me look at my new girls. I didn't have any bandages or drains...my surgeon likes to just let the girls hang loose and used a clear sort of top coat over the stitches on incision. I was so glad not to have to deal with all that and felt like bandages would have just made me more sore. They didn't look that big to me when I looked down at them...I thought they would have been bigger...but I was very happy with how they looked....they were the perfect size!

I rested up a bit longer while they filled my pain meds and antibiotic prescriptions (so nice I didn't have to go to the pharmacy!), and was discharged by 10:30 so I was at the hospital about 4 hours total-not bad at all!

When I got home I looked at the girls in the mirror and they looked so much bigger than when I initially looked at them! Not too big or too small though...I was really nervous about picking the right size...but trust your doctors ladies!!! I couldn't be happier with my results. I'm now laying in bed propped up on some pillows with some ginger ale and a trash can as I was feeling a bit nauseous on the ride home, but haven't gotten sick. I'm also applying an ice pack 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Now that I've talked to all my family and friends to let them know it went well I plan on eating some crackers or something light then taking a nap this afternoon.

All in all I'm thrilled with how they look-no bruising and only a little swelling so far, and I would totally recommend this procedure and my doctor to anyone! It's so important that you feel comfortable with your Dr and trust him...mine was so great, answered all of my questions and kept reassuring me that I would be ok throughout the process. His staff were also very nice and helpful. The fact that I loved the team I went with definitely made this process easier!! I have a follow up tomorrow morning so I'll let you know how that goes! I've only taken one pic of the girls so far, this was 2 hours post op, can't wait to see how they look in a few weeks!!

Good luck! Can't wait to see how you heal up! I'm going in on the 20th and quite nervous mostly about size. Great to read about your experience
February 12, 2016
Aw good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine! What size are you going with?

I'm still undecided but I just talked to my surgeon and he said he will bring in 300cc, 325cc and 350cc and decide which one gets me the look I want once in the OR. They will be textured silicone round high profile implants placed over the muscle
February 13, 2016
I was deciding between the same sizes! Ended up with the 325's since they were right in the middle and couldn't be happier...I think 300 may have been a bit too small but the 325 is so tight I don't know if the 350 would have fit! I also went under the muscle so was losing a bit there, but you won't have that problem..something else to consider! Best of luck to you! Let me know what you end up with!

That's what I think I'm going to end up with (325cc) but in the end I really trust my surgeon based on his work to get me the look I want

Yeah always good to trust them...they know what they're doing!
