Like many of you, I spent a great deal of time researching eyelid surgery before undergoing the procedure. I found this website very helpful in my research so I wanted to share my experience in the hope it may help others. I am a novice to cosmetic procedures and did not take the decision to get plastic surgery lightly. Truth be told, medical procedures and needles in particular freak me out. For a few years now I had noticed dark circles under my eyes. I tried different creams and serums in an effort to lessen the darkness. I came to realize that the darkness and shadows were being caused by prolapsed fat pads under my eyes giving me under eye bags. Still, I babied my undereyes and did what I could with makeup to try and camouflage the bags (including watch very talented makeup artist tutorials on youtube). These stubborn fat pads were going no where! I slowly started toying with the idea of a more permanent option. I found this website and read many reviews from people who had similar procedures done. In my research I found that under eye surgery could be accomplished by either an internal incision or external. I thought given my age and the fact that I had good skin elasticity an internal eyelid incision would work out best for me as I would not need skin removed. Once I understood potential surgical options I sought out different cosmetic surgeons for a consultation. I met with three different doctors. I chose my surgeon based on pictures of his other clients, reviews on real self, he does internal incisions and that he did not rush me or push any procedures on me during the consult. He agreed that he could help me with my bags by removing some fat under my eyes and fat grafting to fill in some hollowness. I had contemplated having my upper eyelids done as well and he told me no (he said full lids are in and he didn't think I needed that done). Along with the lower eyelid surgery I inquired about chin liposuction. I do not have pronounced chin and have never like my profile because of this. Since I was going to get my eyes done I figured why not get chin lipo as well. The doctor agreed and thought he could remove a little fat, but was honest with me that the way my anatomy is I would not have a defined jaw line, but liposuction would help a little. :) After the consults I took some time to reflect on if I really wanted to do something about my perceived imperfections. Since these things had bothered me for years, and this wasn't some whim I decided to move forward. I was terrified of the prospect of surgery but told myself that at some point in my lifetime I will likely need surgery, so why not do it on my terms and have surgery because I want to and not because I have to. I arrived at the hospital the day of surgery at 6am and was taken back to the OR by 7:30. The whole process was a breeze. I woke up from surgery and told everyone I couldn't believe I had been nervous because everything was so easy. I was prescribed pain meds have have not had any need for them as I am in a minimal amount of pain. I am swollen and bruised but am loving the results. I can't wait to see what the next fews days and weeks will show. As of right now I am happy I decided to have these procedures done.

Your eyes look great! I have a similar problem with my eyes, but more hollowing. I have consulted with at least four different plastic surgeons and they all say something different. I think the fat grafting is very helpful in a lot of cases, but so many people say that there can be a lot of lumps and bumps. It doesn’t look like you have had any of those. Do you know how many CC’s of fat he injected and was it done right under the eyes? Thank you so much for your help!

I just found this comment so I apologize for the late reply. I have no idea how much fat he grafted under my eye. He used fat harvested from my inner knees( didn’t take out enough fat if you ask me ;) The incision he made for the fat placement was in the outer corner of each eye. I never had any lumps or bumps. Now that all my swelling has subsided I do have some hollowness/darkness. The fat graft was not towards the inner corners which may have helped with hollowness. But the slight hollowness doesn’t bother as much as the bags did. I could never hide the bags, but I can hid the hollowness a little with makeup.
