The only down side to going through the process of getting ready for surgery.

In my last post I forgot to add...the only down side I have found in going through this process. I have already had someone tell me that I am cheating at weight loss. I understand that so many people in this world do not understand how difficult it can be for some of us who are morbidly obese to lose weight. It really hurts me to think that someone I know personally would say that I am cheating at weight loss because I am having surgery. I personally do not feel that surgery is cheating at all. It is a great tool for those of us who have tried so many times on our own to lose the weight but cant for whatever reason that may be. There are so many things that go into this process and they have proven to me to be extremely stressful at times. Just like making the lifestyle changes for weight loss when you do it on your own without surgery, you still have to make lifestyle changes and in some cases even bigger lifestyle changes with surgical weight loss help. I know that a lot of people feel that it is cheating and everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I just feel that you should be supportive even if you think its not the right way, because it may not be the right way for you, but it may be the only way for me. Just my thoughts on this subject!

Post Upper Endoscopy appointment and what's next!

Ok...so I have not posted anything in a long time. Things have been hectic around my house lately. But here it goes! Well I took my H.Pylori test and it came back negative so I had my upper endoscopy done on September 30th. It went well and the results were that I have some inflammation in my stomach and a small hiatal hernia. But nothing to be terribly worried about. Then I took my dietary education class that was 5 hours long. It was very informative and I gained a lot of great knowledge from it on what to expect from now until surgery and everything after surgery. Today I had my post upper endoscopy appointment with Dr. Sahagian. He said everything looked well and that the next time I see him we will be scheduling my surgery. Now all I have to do is complete my six months of medically supervised weight loss plan, do my psychological evaluation, and my pre and post op support group meeting. Those should all go by pretty fast and after the first of the year I will be scheduling my surgery. I also had my sleep study done and was diagnosed with moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Now I am just waiting to get my CPAP so that hopefully I can get a good night's sleep and so can my husband. LOL!! I am also finally done with college and looking for a job. I have a lot of interviews this week and next so hopefully something good will come of one of them. A lot going on right now but I am slowly but surely getting there and getting more and more excited the closer I get to surgery day!

Next step!

Had an appointment with my primary care doctor on the 21st. She gave me my letter of medical necessity for surgery and started the 6 months of medically supervised weight loss plan with me as well. Today is the first day of my pre op weight loss plan and she has suggested that I keep a food journal, drink plenty of water and eat smaller portions. So far this morning so good. This week I have to go back to the surgeons office to do my H.Pylori breath test and to re do some blood work labs because some of my levels came back a little high last time. Then its just playing the waiting game for them to get my sleep study and upper endoscopy scheduled. One step at a time I am getting these tasks crossed off of my pre op checklist. Every time I check one off I get a little bit happier that I am one step closer to scheduling surgery.

Provider Review

Dr. Sahagian

I have only seen Dr. Sahagian in the seminar so far. Just by listening to him speak there I can tell that he is very straightforward but has a great manner about him. I look forward to speaking with him personally at my consultation.
