I had been wanting, for years, to have an Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty. I have always had heavy eyelids, and getting older definitely hasn't helped.
After a friend had this procedure and seeing how incredible she looked, I decided to look into having it done. I asked around and Dr. Mendelsohn was recommended to me, along with some other doctors.
The first call I made was to Dr. Mendelsohn's office. I spoke initially with Mark, who was very helpful, and very patient with all of my questions. I went in for the consultation, and immediately felt at ease - everyone I encountered at the office was extremely welcoming and nice. After some photos were taken, I met with Dr. Mendelsohn. He explained the procedure to me in detail, and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. Because I pass out easily, I was concerned that the procedure was done under a local anesthesia. I was assured that what they would give me would be enough to get me completely relaxed.
I know that a person is supposed to go to a few doctors for consultations, but to be honest, I felt so comfortable with Dr. Mendelsohn that I did not even call the other doctors on my list.
After a couple of weeks, and a couple of phone calls with additional questions, I decided to get it done.
The procedure went smoothly, and the drugs they gave me did the trick. I think I slept through it! I do remember being asked if I was doing ok, and answering back, but that's about all I remember.
The recovery is not bad - however, after my little stitches were removed, I must have rubbed my eye during sleep. I woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that the incision had opened. That freaked me out a little bit, and I immediately called the office. Dr. Mendelsohn called back promptly to reassure me that all would be ok. After another day or two, I asked if I could come in - just to have someone take a look and reassure me that it was ok. They got me right in, and Dr. Mendelsohn patiently let me know that it would be fine. Again, everyone was so nice, and willing to give me the reassurance that I needed.
I just had a 6 week appointment - everything is healing nicely. I still have a little bit of swelling, and the incisions are still a bit pink, but nothing that is out of the norm for the procedure.
I would recommend Dr. Mendelsohn to anyone, and I particularly would recommend the procedure to anyone who has heavy eyelids like I USED to have! I wish I had done it years ago!

Did people who did not know you were undergoing the procedure notice you had it done? I am curious because I am having upper and lower done Monday (my befores are under Van126) and only my husband and the doc's office know. Really, I love your results!
It's kinda funny - now that I am used to my eyes looking like this, I have to look back at my before pictures to reassure myself that it was really worth doing it. And every time I do that, I think to myself that of course it was worth it. I think someday I will have my lowers done - but right now it's manageable with filler in my tear troughs.
Good luck with your procedure - I'll be looking for your after pictures!!
