You look great. Can I ask your age and if you had the CO 2 fractionated ablative or non ablative lasering done? I don't see any peeling so wondering if it was ablative or not. Did you just have numbing cream or more to help during procedure? I go in to have CO 2 fractionated ablative lasering done in less than two weeks so curious as they will just numb my face, give me lidocaine shots and a little valium. Hope that helps with procedure.

Thank you! sure! link to the site at Dr. HABER regarding the laser: http://www.haberderm.com/CosmeticDermatology/AffirmLaser/tabid/109/Default.aspx
it is labeled non-ablative but sure felt ablative!! please go to the company website of the laser--Cynosure Affirm Age Station and also the Cynosure Affirm SmartSkin. This will explain how it works. while it is a fractionated C02 laser, it works differently than the Fraxel-- have seen many people with permanent grid marks and micro holes on their faces. Believe me I did my research! I am 59, worked over 20 years in surgery and am familiar with lasers; IMPORTANT! You need a physician who is competent!! I went two hours to Beachwood Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, from the Toledo, Ohio area. The physician doing the procedure is KEY in your procedure! There are a couple of physicians in my area doing this-- one is an interventional radiologist and the other is an emergency medicine doctor---neither has any board certifications in dermatology, cosmetics, or laser usage--do your homework!! Ablative laser will be more downtime-- what exactly is the laser?? Also-- you don't see peeling because I followed directions - I used the triamcinolone lotion and Vaseline for the entire week. My neck was quite sore. I have had 6 Levulon Kerastix/Blu light treatments since 2007. While they did help the actinic keratosis (red spots) they did not eradicate it... thus I did this. I am so glad I did! I paid $3,800 for two treatments-- that is two areas. Dr. Haber is concerned about the Lidocaine ointment used as the numbing agent possibly being systemic--meaning it may cause decreased heartbeat, etc. So when you say "lidocaine shots" what does that mean? do you have a nurse anesthetist or anesthesiologist? Mine was very painful; even with the lidocaine ointment, but I was able to deal with it...My husband told me tonight: "It's like they took an eraser over all those red spots!" BEST thing he could have said!!! I am very pleased!! any help I can give just ask!!!

My surgeon is a facial plastic surgeon and has done lots of laser procedures. I am to take 10 mgs Valium. Then he puts on numbing cream and they do lidocaine nerve block shots. My biggest fear is the pain during the procedure but he has done tons of laser resurfacing with just using above. It will be an ablative CO 2 fractional laser. Probably Mixto. He rents his lasers from a local hospital so I don't know exactly which one but I've heard it's the experience of surgeon not laser that's important. To address issues of precancerous cells. Brown pigmentation and some wrinkles. Use Aquafor and vinegar soaks after. Antibiotics. Antiviral. Tylenol with codeine some before and after. Any other suggestions or reassurance about if there is any pain during procedure would be so appreciated. Two plastic surgeons said I needed laser and facelift. This surgeon said a facelift would not address my issues as I don't have laxitivity and that lasering was what I needed so I feel he has my best interests in mind.

ok! honestly with the nerve block you won't feel anything! The Mixto is also a fractional C02 laser -- it also has fabulous result!! Sounds like you have a great doctor! With the nerve block I am sure he has anesthesia involved- great for you! Al I had was the numbing lidocaine cream; believe me it was really painful- I had my neck and face done. What areas are you doing? I had the procedure on Friday, Dec. 4th. I drove there and back by myself; no valium or anything. My worst day was Sunday and Monday-- mostly stinging type burn in my neck. I did everything they told me: sliding doses of Prednisone, 5 days of antifungal, only had Tylenol for pain! Wish I would have had the Tylenol with codeine! BUT after Monday- Tuesday was much better... I put the Vaseline on for an entire week along with the triamcinolone lotion---nothing else. I stayed off work this entire time. My neck is still not healed, but coming along---I am going back to work tomorrow. Honestly- with the pain pills you will be ok-- it isn't pleasant but after the first couple days it gets better. Take some stool softeners however (Colace, surfak) over the counter-- they are NOT laxatives- the codeine can definitely bind you up. It sounds like you are all set--I followed DebraRealself on this site-- she had the same laser as me; her treatment and procedure however were more like yours--nerve block, vinegar soaks. I guess it depends on the physician. ALSO! have some Benadryl on hand! it was the only thing that helped me with the stinging and burning. Hope this helps! I would be happy to talk with you - if you wanted to give me your number privately.

Bless you. I appreciate all your input. You've put me at ease. Mine will be deep ablative even though it's CO 2 fractionated from what surgeon said so I'm ready for at least two weeks down time.

Affirm CO 2 laser resurfacing
wiggy518December 11, 2015
Days seven and eight respectively. Much better neck is still quite sore on the mend though. Can't say enough good dr Haber and Haber dermatology in Beachwood Ohio. The esthetician Jan Lucci is also phenomenal. I have very sensitive skin so I'm expecting at least another couple of weeks of recovery but I do feel like I can go back to work on Monday. As long as my neck is feeling better. I don't want to risk an infection.

How painful was this? I am scheduled to have co2 done next week I am now having worried. Would you do this again

Hi! I have had this done three times on my face since my first procedure. I am still very careful with sunscreen and being in the sun etc. Unfortunately the actinic keratosis comes back so I was really disappointed. My physician is a dermatologist by trade not a plastic surgeon so all he uses in his office is the lidocaine cream for one hour so yes it is very painful. On a scale of 1 to 10 it was about a 10 for sure. I have an extremely high pain tolerance and if you read other reviews most of the women who had this done we’re under General Anastasia or at the very least monitored anesthesia care where they’re getting

I’ve had this done three times on my face since my first procedure. The initial results were great but unfortunately the actinic keratosis comes back! Honestly I just had it done last January 2018 and I really need it done again! My physician is a dermatologist so he does not use any type of anesthesia. Just the lidocaine numbing cream for one hour and that’s it. It was very painful on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a ton i’ve had this done three times on my face since my first procedure. Unfortunately the results of this procedure well wonderful first are definitely not long-lasting.
