Regrets of ankle liposuction

Louankle
$3,395
I've really regretted this surgery, my legs are bigger now than before surgery and my feet used to be attractive and slim, following the surgery they became very swollen and have never lost the swollen look. This makes wearing ballet shoes and sandals impossible as my feet are all puffed up and hang over the shoe. I'm a size 8 so this looks really freaky :-( it was a total waste of money and one of my biggest life regrets. If I could turn back time, I wouldn't have this procedure and instead invest my money in to a personal trainer to help me tone my legs naturally.

Wow, it's so sad to hear this surgery didn't work for you.

I have lipedema and am considering gentle traditional liposuction on my lower legs, cankles and inner knees. My PS says he'll be very gentle to avoid more trauma to the cells but I am still nervous about the procedure, recovery and results. The op will be done in Singapore where I'm living - I'm Australian - and there are no lipedema specialists here.

The thought of two weeks bedrest and six weeks in compression stockings in the high heat and humidity here has me worried. Especially if it's all for nothing. My weight is stable between 62-67kg and when I'm slimmer my legs are smaller but still look swollen from the lipedema. This is my last resort but it's a lot to go through if it doesn't work!

Wk1 post op check

Louankle
Visited the MYA clinic today to see my nurse. Had a chat with one of the sales girls in reception who reassured me that everything I have experienced - bruising, swelling, scars and stiffness was complete normal and my legs would get smaller over the coming months. The nurse checked the incision points and confirmed all are healing well and bruising considered as moderate. We took measurements and knees and calves are about same size as before. Ankles are 4cm smaller already-and they're swollen!! Feeling excited and positive that legs will get smaller.:-)

Hi Louankle, very pleased to see a review from the UK! Congrats on going for the surgery! I am thinking of having this done and am very interested to see your results. Also, how much did this cost you in GBP? Thanks :-)

Hi Louankle! So happy to hear you were seeing results after 1 week! That is amazing! How is your recovering going, now that it's a little over 2 months post-op? I hope you are still happy with your results and you're seeing more and more of them! Best wishes!

Day 6 post op

Louankle
Its becoming easier to move. Still swollen but can see a difference in my knees. The shape of my leg looks the same as before the op. I'm hoping it's just the swelling and not how they will look in the end!
