This is exactly what I am looking for and you sharing your experience was invaluable. You picked the perfect procedure I think, and I hope to feel as comfortable with the results one day as you express! So happy it worked out. How did you and the doctor determine the amount of mm to slide it? You mentioned he said 6 or 8, but where did you guys come to that? You picked right! And I am wondering how that part of the process goes. Thanks for sharing!

Hi! Thank you for the nice words! So, Dr Eppley just does kind of a simple "test" where he has this measuring tool and I was given a mirror and told to basically drop my jaw in to r place where I would like it to be, where I think it looks good (since mine was a vertical movement) and then he used the measuring tool and measured the distance between my teeth. That was 7mm but because they don't make the piece they add in your face in 7mm, only 6 or 8mm, I could choose either or. I chose 8mm, because my face was really so short I didn't think I could over do it. Also I am 5'10" so I am not a tiny woman so I thought 8mm would be better. Eppley agreed and during my post op appt we both were quite happy about going with 8mm.

Thank you for getting back to me! I saw Epply reply to an Internet forum explaining you could measure desired vertical length that way, so I was curious! So it seems that is the way he does it, even with a patient in person. I intend to get the Genioplasty and a wrap around jaw implant after. My face is also very short so I honestly do not think it would be easy to over for it (vertically, I do not want any horizontal projection. Your experience showed me others are in that situation too. It seems a bit rare. Genioplasty is the perfect procedure for that though.) Thank you again, and I am so happy you have been able to put this behind you and move on with your life, never worried about it :) stay positive!

Yeah I told Dr Eppley I couldn't find hardly any examples of women at all on the internet who needed just vertical movement and he said that yes I wouldn't find many women at all, and with men it is rare too I think.

genioplasty is really an incredible surgery when rightly done... I'm a 26 year old man and I did this surgery in France 3 years ago, it completely changed my life. You were already pretty before the surgery and now you look perfect ! :D

You look beautiful, before and after. But you've healed really well, congrats :-)

I feel like maybe all of the swelling at the very bottom of the “length” of my chin is gone, because when I touch my actual chin (the very bottom of my face from the front of it) I can feel the bone. I think I do maybe have some swelling under my chin, because it looks kind of “fat” under my chin. Just a little tiny bit but I hope that goes away. I also think I may have some swelling on the sides and horizontal front of my chin, just feels more puffy. I am glad the swelling seems to be gone length wise because I really like the look of how long my face is now and I dont want it to look any shorter. I feel more a lot confident and beautiful. When I smile with my teeth, I do think the remaining swelling is more apparent and makes my smile look just a touch weird or makes my chin look a little too big. I am sure that will go away. I feel great. I can eat anything, but I don’t eat really hard stuff like an apple or much at all with my front teeth. But I can use them to bite through something soft and I can eat pizza, more so by ripping it up and placing it on my mouth to avoid using my front teeth too much. I don’t like getting food near the stitches. The stitches are definitely still healing and the most annoying part. It also hurts my chin if I sneeze. Other than that I’m very comfy and in no pain.

@adventruous7087 I'm looking into having a sliding genioplasty for more forward projection. I have a very small/recessed chin.

It looks good, what exactly did you got done. What's the name of the procedure Thanks:)

Kind of late to the party, but this procedure was 100% the right call for you. Night and day difference. Congratulations and you look fantastic. Was it $8k total for the procedure alone, or did you factor in flight, food, or any other things besides it?

Thank you so much! That's a nice comment, and I do agree with you. For the first time in my life I like my face and feel okay about it. It's such a relief. No I did not factor in food or hotel, etc. I was close enough that it was just a long drive for my boyfriend and I. I would say maybe another $500 for everything else.

Hey, I was just wondering how you ended up after all this time. Are you still happy with the result and did you have a good recovery?
