Your search for a skilled doctor and a caring staff should really end here. Something interesting I noticed while searching for a plastic surgeon for neck lipo is that aesthetic medicine can often feel like a business transaction and not like true patient care. This is not the case with Dr. G. I felt like I was in the presence of a true professional that genuinely cares about his patients. Something else that appealed to me about Dr. G is that he is also an educator, which tells me three things:
1. He is passionate about his work.
2. He is constantly continuing his own education.
3. He is adept at nurturing others.
These are all things that were extremely important to me in finding a surgeon. I am only a couple days post op, so I cannot see my full results yet, but I feel at peace that I was in the hands of tremendously skilled surgeon. As others have pointed out, Dr. G gives out his cell phone number to his patients post op. He also called me after my procedure to check in. I strongly encourage anyone on this journey to not only consider the skill of your surgeon, but their bedside manner as well. The procedure itself is half of the process- the other half is recovery. When you are in the hands of a surgeon like Dr. G, your procedure will be smooth and your recovery will be comfortable. Also, take note that a great surgeon is only as good as the staff that assists him. Everyone at aFresh has been beyond amazing. Could not recommend Dr. G and everyone at aFresh enough.

Five days post op

Swelling is starting to subside and I am thrilled with the results thus far. I can’t wait to see how it looks as I continue to heal! Still numb in some places but that seems to be coming back very slowly. Still tender to touch and bruised, but I haven’t taken any Tylenol since my second day post op. Feeling good!

Improvements

It’s been about 2 weeks post op and I am loving the results. I know that it can take a few weeks/months to see full results, so I can’t wait to see how things continue to improve. After five days post op, I no longer had to wear the compression garment 24/7. The first day I had it off I noticed my swelling came back and made my chin look like it did before surgery. Bruising disappeared at around 1.5 weeks. I took Arnica before and after surgery and don’t think it did anything to help with bruising. I should note that I tend to bruise easily.
As of now I am still sore and numb in some areas. I have some contour irregularities, but understand this is par for the course for lipo recovery. I read somewhere that massage can help with the contour irregularities and can “wake up” the nerve endings that are still healing. Therefore, I spend a few minutes a day running my knuckles under my chin to help move things along.

Thank you for detailing your recovery experience. It can be nerve-racking when swelling, soreness and numbness won't go away after a few weeks and all you want is to see the final result - but it's all normal and a part of the healing process for many. Hearing your story will help put a lot of members going through similar difficulties at ease!
Now that you're almost at the 2 month mark, can you update with your progress? I hope things are looking up!
