Chin and Jawline Liposuction

WORTH IT
I had my procedure on Friday, April 22. I was originally scheduled to have chin liposuction and sculpting of the jawline. The day of surgery Dr. Suzman started taking pictures and decided that he would also add some type of tightening procedure as well to enhance my results(something to do with heat, I forget what it’s called). Once we went to the backroom and I laid on the operating table, Dr. Suzman decided that along with some Lipo that he would cut some of the fat out from my chin and jaw line as well. He explained that my jawline was already defined and I didn’t need much work however to get optimal results he thought this was the best route to take and didn’t charge additional money to do the extra work he believed would give my the best results. I was placed under local anesthesia and giving what they call laughing gas I believe. I had medication to come my nerves too. During the procedure, I was calm, comfortable and experienced very little discomfort—just a little tug here and there. I was awake for the entire procedure laughing and talking. My experience with the West med group has been absolutely exceptional ! I’ve had other non-surgical procedures with them. They’re Possibly on the pricier side but well worth the investment, you get one body, make the best of it. The bedside manner of the entire team is impeccable, Helen is awesome!

Hello, could I ask how many incisions did you get? 1 or 3?

Day 3ish

Lisa29
I don’t have much bruising but I do have slight swelling and bad headache. Although, the other night I was in so much pain, I was ready to go to the emergency room. I just took some ibuprofen 400 mg, slept it off. Later that evening, I took a Vicodin and Xanax to make myself comfortable. I’m trying to stay optimistic, I go Friday to remove the stitches. The incision is a bit larger than I expected but the doctor said I should have better results. I think I mentioned before the original plan was slightly changed on which method to use. I believe I made the best decision and chose the best doctor for me. I also get my fillers and Botox done at his practice as well. I’m practically glued to my compression wrap and garment. It’s not comfortable but manageable. I was told I can take it off in short intervals but continue to wear my compression. My lower jaw feels slightly tight and realigned but I know that’s due to the compression. I ordered more of the elastic bands that he wrapped my face with after surgery to continue the same level of compression

1 week Follow up

Lisa29
I am officially one week out from my procedure. I can’t emphasize enough how much I appreciate Dr. Suzman and his staff. Their bedside manner is excellent and undefeated. I know I can be a pain in the ass at times. I’ve been having what I call… Postsurgical anxiety! Since I’ve had the surgery, I’ve tried not to go crazy with looking at other patient’s results and comparing myself. Honestly, you can drive yourself crazy in my opinion being over consumed with images and information overload. I went in for my official follow up, I was handled with care and my concerns were addressed. Although I knew my thoughts were getting the best of me, I have to keep reminding myself not to compare myself to other people, we are all starting from different points and why I choose my Doctor. Dr. Suzman evaluated my results, he said my healing and results were coming along really good and not to be so hard on myself. I thought I had seroma but it wasn’t. I’m still experiencing swelling which is quite normal one week after surgery. The concerns I had was my Jawline and me second guessing why we choose to do a bigger incision than originally planned. Dr. Suzman said I didn’t need much liposuction across my jawline, there wasn’t enough fat in that area to really Lipo. The main concern was directly under my chin. By creating a bigger incision under the chin he was able to precisely cut the fat out and essentially lift the area . Making my incision a little bigger than originally planned was the most effective way to remove the fat from under the chin to give the best results for me. We also took a look at my before pictures and there were definitely more noticeable changes than what I was able to see on my own from the angle I was holding my phone. I also have a little more projection at the tip of my chin now. Once the swelling comes down some more, I’ll be able to see more of the results. I do have more swelling on the right side. Ironically, that’s also where I had the most fat at. I also showed him pictures of other people‘s results and he looked at the pictures…then we talked about me individually and expectations for healing. At the end of my follow up, I was at ease, calmer and content with knowing the journey is healing now. I was given the OK to wear my compression band half the day after today and I can start using scar Silicone treatments in a few days. My next follow up appointment will be in six weeks. Can’t wait!
