I'm So Happy!

Like most others, I have hated my double chin and lack of jawline for years. I’d begun doing some light research about how to reduce and define the area several years ago and found several options.  The first and least invasive…and free…daily chin/neck exercises. Those did NOT work.  Secondly, weight loss. Forty pounds less and no noticeable change.  Third, CoolSculpting, but I could not afford the sessions at the time and was also worried that the results could not be guaranteed.  Forth, I started to research Kybella and was leaning towards going that route, until further research indicated a “Not Worth It” rating, between lack of guaranteed results, the length of time to see possible results, the bullfrog swelling, and lastly, it could end up costing more than liposuction.  I always thought liposuction was insanely expensive, so I never looked into it until my Kybella research.  I had 8 consultations with different doctors and realized that chin/submental liposuction is actually quite affordable and I ultimately decided on Dr. Marciano.
I solidified my decision by meeting with Dr. Marciano herself and asking the same questions that I’d asked the other doctors, which she answered confidently and reassuringly.  She visually and physically inspected the area, showed me where she draws her markings, the reasons why, told me where my 3 incisions would be, and that her routine is to start taking the prescribed antibiotics the night prior to the procedure.  I asked if it were possible to see where she would perform my procedure (the surgery suite), to which she pleasantly responded, “Sure!” and walked me to the room and explained what Procedure Day would look like.  She also showed me the SmartLipo unit.  The surgery suite was spacious, CLEAN, very well-lit, and organized.  I knew from that moment that I’d found my surgeon. About one week after securing my surgery date, I got an email from my pharmacy that my prescriptions for my procedure were filled and ready for pickup.  I received a call from Dr. Marciano’s office the day prior to surgery to confirm my appointment, the assistant went over pre-surgery instructions (which were provided to me the day I left my deposit and secured a surgery date), and answered any questions that I had.  The following day, I ate a good breakfast, showed up at the office with my “designated driver”, filled in paperwork, paid my balance, took a urine pregnancy test, then went into the surgery suite, removed my shirt, and put on a gown, took Pre-Op pictures, took a Xanax to ease any anxiety, the assistant gave me an anti-nausea dissolving tablet to offset any nausea the Xanax may cause, the doctor gave me a pain injection of Demerol, then had me lay on the surgical table and the doctor started the process!  I received local anesthesia (lidocaine injection at incision/puncture sites), which did burn a little, but only lasted about 3 seconds.  The entire procedure lasted about 25-30 minutes with zero discomfort.  Dr. Marciano had music playing and talked to me throughout the procedure telling me step-by-step what was happening.  When the procedure was all done, her assistant bandaged and wrapped me up in the compression garment and told me to call if I had any questions or concerns.  I went home and slept like a baby.  I took an extra strength Tylenol about 6 hours post-procedure even though I wasn’t experiencing any pain, but I just wanted to play it safe and keep a pain med on board.  When I awoke the following morning, I felt pretty normal and pain-free.  That was the last pain med I’ve taken.  I received a check-up call from Dr. Marciano’s office the following day and was cleared to shower and reduce my garment wear to 12 hours each day. I’ll continue to post updates about this journey.  I’m currently 8 days post-op and already loving the results I’m seeing through the swelling!

Thank you so much! The swelling is very annoying, but it hasn't even been 2 weeks yet lol. I will definitely continue to post updates.

The swelling is beginning to subside! I have some lumps that I informed my doctor of and she instructed me to softly massage the area in a circular motion 2-3 times daily. I've been doing that for the last 2 weeks and seeing progress. I also have been using a jade roller to help work out any lumps and bumps. I continue to wear my compression garment for a minimum of 12 hours everyday and I've taken the liberty after reading some research papers to add lipo foam. The foam I cut to shape under my chin and wear it in my garment.
I think I forgot to mention in my previous post that I began taking Bromelain and Arnica 30x since 4 days prior to my procedure and I have continued to do so as I figure I may as well finish off the tablets!

It's looks great. What's the point of Lipo foam for the chin?

Thanks! The lipo foam is supposed to be additional compression. I'm not sure how much extra compression It's giving since it's the chin and gravity pulls things down, but it isn't uncomfortable to wear so I just wear it anyway.
