Female, 32 - Chin liposuction mid-weight loss

WORTH IT$4,000
I am so excited - I've just booked a consult with a surgeon for chin/jaw lipo. I've lost over 90 lbs in the last 18 months and while I still have a ways to go that darn double chin I've had my entire life is stubbornly sticking around.
It's so disheartening to see all the progress I've made everywhere else, even in different areas of my face - but the double chin is still so prevalent. I really hope that the consult goes well, because this would be an awesome reward and great motivation to keep on the weight loss path!

Congrats on the weight loss - that's really impressive! We all have that one area that likes to hang around regardless of our weight, as frustrating as it is. When is your consult?

Thanks Kelsie! My consult is on April 11th - so just under a month's wait from initially contacting the clinic.

You go girl! You have kept going strong with it for 18 ‘months which makes you incredible! I’m the same way though whenever I lose weight my chin is still there haha!

I have exactly the same face shape is you. I'm 6 days post-op but my bruising and swelling is much worse than yours was. I've started massage hoping that will help but you look amazing. I bet your confidence is through the roof. I'm wondering if my is taking longer because I had an arm lift at the same time and my body is busy repairing both. Just a theory you never know.

I had my consult on April 11th and all went…

I had my consult on April 11th and all went well! The clinic staff explained the procedure, costs & risks very thoroughly - I have a medical background and have done my research but it was nice to know they have their stuff down pat. The staff member I spoke with had actually had chin and neck lipo done by the same surgeon, and was able to show me her results and scars, which was great.

Dr. Sapijaszko came in, examined my neck/chin area and we spoke about a few options for reducing the chances of loose skin after the surgery. I agreed to having a small amount of skin excised from just underneath my chin during the procedure if he thought it was necessary and I'll return for a few radio frequency skin tightening sessions afterwards.

I've gone ahead and booked a surgery date of May 4th - man, things can move quickly in private clinics! I must be used to public health, I was expecting a wait time of at least a few months. They were even able to accommodate scheduling the pre-op appointment around my upcoming vacation which was really appreciated. I've been wanting this for a long time and I'm really looking forward to it.

I'll have a full 10 weeks left on my mat leave to heal before returning to work!

Procedure done!

Feeling very happy with how things went today. I showed up at 7:30, was given some antiseptic face wash and a gown to change into. We walked to the OR, I took a sedative and the doctor took some pictures and drew on the areas to guide the cannula. I laid on my back with my neck stretched out as far as it would go - I was pretty much looking at the wall behind me! He injected my face / neck with a numbing solution that caused everything to swell up to cartoonish bullfrog proportions. Once the numbing had fully set in, the doctor went to work and I have to say it was the weirdest feeling ever! Not painful, but a lot of pressure and tugging, accompanied by the sound of someone trying to eat jello through a straw. He also excised a fair amount of skin just beneath my chin to help reduce sagging in the neck area. All in all there was over 200cc removed. The nurses gave me juice and fig bars while they finished up the paperwork - everyone was polite and friendly, really happy with how they treated me. Now I'm at home resting up with the lovely compression garment on - I'm very swollen and a little sore but it should be manageable with Tylenol. Looking forward to the swelling going down so I can see some changes!
