Too Much Fat Removed After Submental (Neck/chin) Liposuction. PLEASE BEWARE

Too Much Fat Removed After Submental (Neck/chin) Liposuction. PLEASE BEWARE

Had a very weak jawline, and did a lot of research. I chose a board certified surgeon with tons of great reviews. I told him in our consultation and again on the day of surgery that I didn’t want to over do it. I literally said I’d rather take a little less out than end up with banding/muscles showing. He said he only would remove about half the fat layer and assured me over and over again I was the ideal candidate and would see great results. Well, it’s been 3 weeks and the swelling is pretty much gone and now you can see multiple muscles in my neck- especially on the right side. Though my profile is more defined, I NEVER wanted to remove so much fat. Fat/volume is the key to a youthful appearance. I am devastated that this will hollow out more as I age and if I lose any weight. I really want to do micro fat grafting to fix this but I’m worried there is not enough fat in my neck left for it to be successful. I regret doing this as once the fat cells are gone, I know this is permanent. I don’t want to do any more surgical procedures but may try to find a specialist that solely focuses on facial/neck procedures and fat grafting. Lesson learned- you need to be overly explicit in what you want done and not done. I should have point blank said don’t go that far down my neck and to only take about 1/4 of the fat layer instead of 1/2. I would now recommend doing any other type of procedure over neck lipo to save your fat layer. And if you must, please request they take out very little and leave you with plenty fat left. This will insure you still have a smooth, voluminous, and youthful neck. You don’t want this area to look skeletal as you age.
I am only taking the time to write this lengthy review to sincerely warn others before doing this procedure. I was the perfect candidate in my surgeons eyes- young, great skin elasticity-and yet I’m super disappointed in what has happened.

I think what would help would be a chin implant to give you a more defined jawline.
I also had aggressive chin lipo which left me with bands. At first, I thought they were platsymal bands but they turned out to be fibrous bands. After I’m done with my covid vaccines, I’m going to get 5 FU and kenalog injections to help break up the scar tissue. You should go back to your PS or get a second opinion to see if your bands are platsymal bands or fibrous bands from scar tissue.
I have that too. The thick bands. I’m not sure what to do to make it better. Did yours get better? Did you use the kenalog?
I’m so so so sorry <3
Hey! I had my chin liposuction 6 months ago and I also had those band thingies! However, they did go away after a while. Also, about the bumps, that's swelling! I was worried about that too but they go away. My neck is smooth and jawline sharp af. I think you should be patient as when I was one month out, my neck looked even worse and bumpier than yours!
Oh, you're three weeks... that's WAY too early to judge final results! Are you sure your swelling is fully gone? It typically takes 3-6 months to see final results.
If you want, check out my lipo review. :) I hope this helps!
That’s good to know- hopefully mine will go away too. Thank you!
Any updates?
