Chin Lipo Journey (Swelling or FAT?!)

I've always been thin, but I've had a hereditary double chin since birth, regardless of having a low bodyfat percentage. I'm 29 years old and finally had enough courage to receive chin liposuction in Chicago. I won't disclose the surgeon's name or practice until my results are final.
Since the procedure, my results have not shown much improvement compared to pre op, and it doesn't seem like my results have improved since the first week of acute swelling. The days leading up to my liposuction were stressful, but I viewed the procedure as my mountain that needed to be climbed to be happy with my appearance (my double chin has been a huge insecurity since I was 10!). I thought I would have catharsis from finally having identified and solved a problem that has caused me self-esteem issues, but unfortunately the 3.5 weeks post surgery have been worse than the lead up to surgery.
I will be posting pictures to reflect my post op journey, though I've grown so discouraged that I no longer take daily photos as the results have not improved. I do have one possible ray of hope however; very recently, when I take off the compression garment after wearing it for many hours, my profile looks great. But the results are very short lived, reverting back to my "normal" double chinned self.
My question really hinges on hope here, but do the results upon taking off my garment indicate my final result when the swelling goes down fully? OR are my results more likely to be in line with what I see when the garment is off for but a mere 15 minutes?
This has been a very trying process for me; I am honestly in that post op depression phase and can't seem to escape it right now. I do see my surgeon for a post op next week. Though I expect some improvement in results, I'm unsure if my expectations are far too high and will not fall in line with when I immediately take off the garment... Most people seem to have great results within a couple weeks, so I am quite discouraged.
Any knowledge on this would be much appreciated. I'll continue to keep viewers updated and answer any questions about my journey.

This may not make you feel better, but I think your profile looks fine in these photos. Good luck on your follow up visit.

Thanks for the comment. The photos that look good are the ones that were taken right after taking it off though. I should change the order of the photos to better illustrate what I'm talking about.

Hun, after you take the compressiin off your chin is going to swell, it’s totally normal, I had my chin lipo 3 weeks ago and have a hard lump for the most part of my underchin that is going to take a while to go away, but this is all to be expected, it takes at least 3-6 months for you to see the final result, I’m sure you’ll be fine:)

Thanks! I hope so! I saw the doctor yesterday. At first he was discouraged when looking at me, but after showing him my photos of how I look when taking off the garment, he became way more optimistic. That said, he told me this is pretty rare for him to not be showing much in the way of improvement yet. I'll update with pictures tomorrow.

4 Week Update (without compression garment)

To better illustrate the discrepancy between my profile immediately when I take off my garment vs. when I leave it off for a couple hours, here is a good comparison.
Today marks the 4th week since lipo, and I am still incredibly swollen (hopefully its swelling...).

I just had chin liposuction, but have had stomach lipo before. Trust me, swelling may take 6 months to fully go away. If you want to help it along, don't drink alcohol, caffeine, or eat salt (therefore, no takeout, pizza, etc. which as a nearby neighbor to Chicago is pretty challenging for me, but it is very important if you want to reduce swelling). At home, I use a salt substitute to help and drink twice as much water as normal. I think you'll see good results with time, but to speed them along, try to really watch your diet.

I had same procedure 5 months ago. Looked great right after surgery then swelling set in and while my profile looked good - under my him I have rippling and lumps that are taking months to heal. I have gone to my surgeon and have had consultations with 2 additional doctors. It's rare to be swollen this long but it is slowly starting to heal. Not enough good info about the healing process available so please consider continuing to share your experience. It does get better with time.

Thanks for the comment. How are you doing now though? Is it much improved?

It does seem that we have very different issues though. Mine is just general swelling while yours is related to rippling.

I've also read that males tend to swell for much longer than women... Are you now happy with your results??

You needs radio frequency facial. Ultrasound too ask your chiropractor if you have one

1 Month Post OP

There are 2 possibilities that would explain why I look much better right when I take the garment off.
1. Swelling. This is what I'm hoping for
2. Waist Training for my chin...
I sorta just had the thought that my garment is actually like a waist trainer, and thats why I see results when I take it off right away. Then it reverts back... I had my one month post op yesterday and my doc thinks it is most likely swelling after seeing my pics after taking off the garment, but I now think it's just b/c I wore the garment so damn tight. I hate this recovery phase. It's draining and depressing.
We took a look at the one month before/afters and you can barely tell a difference. At this point unfortunately, it seems this procedure was not worth it. He also said it is pretty rare to see such little improvement one month out, though I still technically am early in the healing process.
I hope to god it's all just swelling and that I'm taking a long long time to heal. I could never do this again though... If my one month pics are essentially my final result, I would be so depressed because I feel like my problem could never be fixed.

Do you have any hardness or lumps where the lupo was done?
August 1, 2020
Nope! Its very soft at the moment. The lumps went away by week 2 or 3

I felt like my garment was too tight as well. So after two weeks I stopped wearing it. Do you massage your chin/neck?
August 2, 2020
A little bit yes. I just started using arnica gel which actually might be helping with the swelling. We'll see soon enough.

Btw, you've had quite the plastic surgery experience. But it seems to have turned out well for you. You look great!

Has it gotten better? Was it just swelling?
August 2, 2020
Well I just posted this recently, so I'll have a better idea in a couple weeks. I'll update post in a few days.
