Just Woken Up on Day 1 - Feeling Sore

Had the surgery yesterday afternoon - chin implant, lipo and neck tightening sutures - and thought I would share a little of how I’m feeling right now (at nearly 5am, having had a night of patchy sleep).
I’m in more pain than I expected to be but I’m not sure I’ve got my meds right just yet. The NSAID they gave me for pain seems to be more about reducing swelling than pain and the diazepam I took last night didn’t help much either. So all I took was a couple of regular paracetamol during the night but it’s possibly not enough. I’m also not used to taking any painkillers so I think I’m a bit anxious about it all.
I haven’t removed the bandage since leaving surgery so no idea how it looks under there but I have developed quite a pout under my lower lip, which I’m sure is temporary but I kinda like it!
Managed to eat some yoghurt and homemade chicken soup last night (thanks Mum!) but now I’m starving and so exited about having a breakfast smoothie in a little while.

Day 4 - time to face the world!
Imaginative9031August 12, 2019
For the past few days I’ve been at home resting, strictly following the regime of wearing the compression bandage, doing the hourly ice packs, medications and topical ointment and, as boring as it has been, I think it’s really helped with recovery. The yellowish-brown bruises that appeared on my neck at lunchtime on day 1 have almost gone.
I have minimal pain, just an occasional twinge if I over-extend my jaw. The only thing that I think will take some time is the sensation in my front lower teeth. They don’t hurt, they just feel tight and weird - like when I had braces as a teenager.
But today I am excited to go out for a little while. I’m happy with the results I’m seeing so far. If I’m being REALLY picky I would have loved a little more projection on my chin but the surgeon already used a large implant so I don’t think he could have done more. And I was never aiming for perfection!

Deep breath - here come the photos
Imaginative9031August 17, 2019
It’s now 9 days since the operation. I’m up and down in terms of the results - some days I’m really happy with my new profile and others I feel like it hasn't made enough of an improvement to my face! But I know it’s still going to be a while until the lipo provides more definition. Fingers crossed.
So I’m posting these photos not really to show my ‘great outcome’ but to help others have some idea of what to expect at this stage in the process, recognising of course that everyone is different! Hopefully they’re helpful.

Thanks for asking! I would say things are going fine for 6 weeks post. I can see more definition in my jawline now, which I’m happy with. I only get a twinge of pain if I knock my chin slightly and I think I’m very gradually getting more sensation in my lower teeth. How are things at 3 months? Are there still changes at that stage?

That’s great! I think there’s still changes. My healing process was really slow. I was so bruised and it took literally 5 weeks for that to dissipate which is a really long time. I had a lot of swelling that took awhile to go down too. It’s still tight, but I only feel the tightness every now and then. I don’t know. It’s been a process but I’m definitely happy I did it! I’m glad you’re getting better too. It takes time.
