Final Update

So it’s been well over a month since my surgery, I had my follow up last week and the doc said things are looking good. I’m still avoiding resting my chin on my hand while sitting as it feels uncomfortable. The scar was doing well until just yesterday I noticed it’s still fairly raised and has become more sensitive to the touch. The final look isn’t anything dramatic or life changing but I’m glad I did it because it definitely helped balance my face out.One last thing; smiling was a big change for me. Seeing pictures of myself smiling with my new chin looked so weird because it really elongated my face. I was really self conscious of it at first. I felt like the crimson chin from fairly odd parents but later on comparing to the other people in the photos I realized it looks the same length as everyone else’s. After looking one way for 26 years it’s hard to go through a sudden change without thinking you look weird when actually it made your face 10x more normal.

6 Day Post Op

Finally got my stitches out and got to remove the tape chin strap I’ve been rocking the past week. In a way my chin feels even heavier now that everything is removed. Maybe bc I don’t have the tape distracting me from the remaining numbness. My doctor said I still have some swelling so I’m holding out for even better results. My smile looks like I couldn’t be less enthused so I’m hoping that comes back soon too. See you for my one month check in!

Day 4

Getting extremely restless but with the stitches and tape I’m not ready to go out in public. My jowls are feeling a little numb but nothing serious. I laid off on icing yesterday and although I’m not very chipmunk-y it looks like I’m starting to bruise and swell under my neck again.
