Chin Implant- Surgery Day!

Final Update

So it’s been well over a month since my surgery, I had my follow up last week and the doc said things are looking good. I’m still avoiding resting my chin on my hand while sitting as it feels uncomfortable. The scar was doing well until just yesterday I noticed it’s still fairly raised and has become more sensitive to the touch. The final look isn’t anything dramatic or life changing but I’m glad I did it because it definitely helped balance my face out.One last thing; smiling was a big change for me. Seeing pictures of myself smiling with my new chin looked so weird because it really elongated my face. I was really self conscious of it at first. I felt like the crimson chin from fairly odd parents but later on comparing to the other people in the photos I realized it looks the same length as everyone else’s. After looking one way for 26 years it’s hard to go through a sudden change without thinking you look weird when actually it made your face 10x more normal.

I think the results are fantastic! Minor tweaks make all the difference. Also, I love the Crimson Chin reference. I forgot about that from when I was a kid!

Thank you! Haha it was the best way to describe the feeling

You look great and your results are beautiful! Do you remember how long it took the swelling to go down? I'm 2 weeks this week post op and my swelling is still there.

Thank you! I luckily didn’t have much swelling. I’d say it was back to normal about a week in.

How's the scar healing so far?

6 Day Post Op

Finally got my stitches out and got to remove the tape chin strap I’ve been rocking the past week. In a way my chin feels even heavier now that everything is removed. Maybe bc I don’t have the tape distracting me from the remaining numbness. My doctor said I still have some swelling so I’m holding out for even better results. My smile looks like I couldn’t be less enthused so I’m hoping that comes back soon too. See you for my one month check in!

You look great! Does the implant feel natural like your own chin? My procedure is scheduled in 4 weeks!

Thanks! I’m still nervous to touch it much but the sensation seems to already feel like my own. It’s definitely worth it!

I looks great. I can’t wait to get mine. How so you like your frontal view?

When smiling right now the implant looks massive since my bottom lip can’t move much but the projection from the side is perfect.

How’s it going? Updates :)

Each day it’s getting more natural but I’m still very aware that there’s a foreign object in there. The tip of my chin is still numb and I can’t show my lower teeth but healing is coming along well

Thank you for documenting your journey! How is it now?

It’s definitely starting to feel normal now, not as foreign, but the area is still fairly numb.

I am scheduled for a chin implant with some neck lipo in December. I am also going to have local anesthesia and Valium. Which, I have never taken either. Were the numbing shots bearable after taking the Valium? I am really nervous about the scrapping of the bone for the implant pocket, too. All the reviews here say the shots and the scrapping are unbearable.

The shots weren’t too bad. Just a pinch. I had forgotten about them until you just mentioned it! I barely remember the scraping now (glad I documented right after surgery), the Valium worked really well for me. Hope it works just as well for you!

Day 4

Getting extremely restless but with the stitches and tape I’m not ready to go out in public. My jowls are feeling a little numb but nothing serious. I laid off on icing yesterday and although I’m not very chipmunk-y it looks like I’m starting to bruise and swell under my neck again.
