Before meeting Dr. Rich, I had previous reconstructive surgery on my jaw (with a genioplasty) which resulted in nerve damage and my chin being recessed and disproportional to the rest of my face. After nearly a decade of dealing with my chin being disproportional, I decided I wanted to get surgery.

I met with several other plastic and orthognathic surgeons in Columbia--all of whom had a strong push for surgery but failed to thoroughly care and discuss my medical history and questions. Then, I met Dr. Rich! Dr. Rich spent an HOUR getting to know me, discussing my medical history, candidly discussing the risks, how he'd perform the surgery, and establishing a realistic outcome of surgery. I was especially concerned about additional nerve damage, but Dr. Rich took time to discuss the anatomy of the mental nerves, how he handles the nerves during surgical procedures, the risks associated with the surgery, and how he would specifically approach my surgery based on my medical history.

The best aspect of Dr. Rich's approach is his ability to take photographs and generate different "after surgery" photos. It allows you, the patient, to work with Dr. Rich so you can determine what kind of changes you want. Unlike the approach from the other plastic surgeons in Columbia, Dr. Rich's setup ensures you and Dr. Rich have a similar expectation for the surgery. My side profile after surgery is essentially the same as what we "created" prior to surgery--if not better!
