Chin Implant, Neck Lipo, Botox & Wisdom Teeth Removal
I have always been unhappy with my jawline and was looking for providers for neck liposuction, but all drs I saw recommended a chin implant instead. I spent some time speaking to various clinics and medical travel providers before settling on Clinic4You in Wroclaw. They were affordable, but not so cheap that I would worry about the standard of care.
Anna who arranges everything was very helpful throughout, I had initially booked for October but various lockdowns conspired against me getting to Poland until April.
I decided on Chin implant, neck liposuction - and I have terribly sore wisdom teeth, so thought I would get the two most troublesome out at the same time. It's a lot for my general jaw area to take at once but I'd rather that than two separate downtimes.
I arrived to Wroclaw, got a negative covid test from the airport and was taken by a driver to the hospital for blood tests. I had initially paid for the assistance package, but after the initial pick-up, decided to cancel it. This isn't because my driver was anything but lovely, he was really kind and helpful and I'm not sure how I would have navigated the blood test part of the process without him, but he would have just been driving me back and forth for the rest of the trip and I thought I could just as easily manage that with an uber.
I checked into my AirBnB and then explored Wroclaw for the rest of the day. It's beautiful.
I got an uber to the surgery at 8am the next day, I filled out some forms and then had a consultation with Dr. Marek Luciuk. He was kind, helpful and detailed, explained all the risks and then suddenly everything happened very quickly. I was changed and into the operating theatre before I realised it.
As I was on the table, I very last minute changed my mind about the Botox - I decided to have it separately, later from the other procedures, as I was worried about having my entire face swollen or immobilised or anything else.
I was pretty scared - there alone - but the nurses were really kind and I was knocked out pretty seamlessly. I woke up about 4-5 hours later in my hospital bed, with tape covering the stitches on my chin, no head bandage.
Took a while for me to wake up, and I was pretty out of it for most of the day. The Doctor came and explained everything went well, told me I could leave after breakfast the next day (Saturday). It was a national holiday weekend so I think they were operating on fewer staff than usual over the weekend.
The nurse didn't speak any English, but I was sharing a room with another patient who did, and who translated when I needed it. The nurse was super kind, patient when I was trying to explain, good at interpreting my sign language. I threw up everything I had eaten at about 8pm, which meant that I hadn't really had a drink or food for a day and she offered me an IV when I said I was worried about dehydration. I think she was quite stretched, but I got everything I asked for which was good.
I recommend, if you come to this clinic, writing out a list of common requests, complaints ("I feel sick" "My ___ hurts" "Can I have a tea?") in polish to better help communication with your nurse, just in case you're not sharing a room with someone who can help. I used google translate but there were times that typing on my phone was a strain on what I felt capable of.
I didn't feel pain, so much as general wooziness and weakness. I made sure I walked around when I could, my face was hugely swollen and remains swollen, but I put that down to my wisdom teeth extraction, I feel no pain on my chin or neck at all.
I slept quite deeply through the night, and left after a follow up check up with Dr Bieniek, whose clinic it is. I do have some painful sores on the corner of my mouth, I think from sleeping elevated with my mouth open because the tape is quite restrictive, the Dr gave me some ointment for them but it hasn't made much change yet.
It's about 30 hours since I got out of surgery. This morning, my face was twice the size it was last night, but it's going down gradually through the day.
I'm witholding final judgement until a few weeks time, but this has been a really smooth process and I'm pleased I chose this clinic.
