Ever since I was a teen, I have been incredibly self-conscious about my chin (or chins!!). It seemed that my face just blended into my body given a slightly recessed chin and a lot of submental fat. For years, I'd thought about getting something done. In fact, about three years ago I went to another clinic for multiple rounds of Kybella with really no effect at all.
Earlier this summer, I decided to go ahead and undergo surgery. As I live in a smaller city where I'd had no success with the treatment provided, I decided to look into plastic surgeons in Toronto. I found Dr. Somogyi's website on Google and was impressed with what I saw and read. I reached out and had a virtual appointment with Dr. Somogyi - partly because of the distance and also because of Covid. I was immediately at ease with Dr. Somogyi and felt confident in the information he shared with me. He discussed alternatives (which I had already tried unsuccessfully) and suggested what he felt would be best for me with respect to submental liposuction.
A few weeks later, I had booked the surgery - having still not met Dr. Somogyi! I had an appointment at his office and he was able to physically examine my face, confirm his earlier recommendations of liposuction and also recommended a small implant, clearly explaining why he was making the recommendation. I had a list of questions which Dr. Somogyi patiently and confidently answered.
On the day of the surgery, I was excited and yet also understandably nervous. When I told Dr. Somogyi that I was feeling a bit nervous, he reassured me by telling me that was natural to be nervous and yet also said, "The good thing is that I'm not." This immediately put my mind at ease as I put my confidence in him.
When I woke from surgery, I was groggy and ill (a typical reaction that I experience with anaesthetic). I had let Dr. Somogyi and his staff know this and they were prepared for my nausea and vomiting, all the while providing gentle care and concern for my well-being. Dr. Somogyi explained that things had gone very well while sharing some details of the surgery. Later that evening, he called me at home to check-in and reassured me that I could reach out at any time with any concerns. On a couple of occasions, I did reach out with questions which office staff responded to quickly.
I'm now about 2.5 weeks post-op and have had two check-up appointments. I also have some skin tightening sessions purchased (included in the cost I have included with this review) which will take place once the healing process is finished. Although still quite swollen, I am already beyond thrilled with the results which have far exceeded my expectations. I have every confidence in Dr. Somogyi and highly recommend him. His kind and gentle confidence, combined with his high level of skill and expertise, are just part of what make him an excellent surgeon. Additionally, his team is friendly, professional, helpful and encouraging. I'm thankful and blessed that my internet search (and prayers!) led me to Dr. Somogyi.

5 and a half weeks

I am now 5.5 weeks post surgery. There is still a little bit of swelling in my upper neck. I am also still experiencing some residual numbness on the right side of my bottom lip and chin. My voice is still a bit husky from the intubation but is much, much better than before. I am beyond thrilled with the results!
