Unhappy with implant had revision

ORIGINAL POST

Chin Implant/Chin Lipo

Where do I even begin. I had my chin implant (size medium, anatomical without extended wings) and chin lipo surgery March 5. It’s been a little over three weeks. I originally wrote a review about it. I had it removed because I’ve been so distraught over the surgery. It’s been such an emotional roller coaster one that I didn’t expect. I love my surgeon and I think she did a beautiful job she gave me exactly what I was asking for it. But my recovery was a little more difficult than others and I had so much swelling it was very hard to even picture the final results. Regardless of how good my surgery went the fact of the matter is my face changed. And I’m sure you’re thinking well duh you had surgery to literally change your face. But seeing it is a totally different experience. I think more so for women who’ve had a chin implant. I’m feeling better about it every day that goes by. I look at my before pics and remind myself why I did this in the first place. I also had a second consultation with an amazing facial plastic surgeon. Even though I felt like I was cheating on my surgeon I needed reassurance. He was very pleased with my results and begged me to wait at least 3 months, preferably 6 before making any final decisions. If I do have it removed I will do it through him because of his facial reconstructive experience. So now we just wait and hopefully I will love my results in a couple months and this will all be behind me. I really have to stop comparing myself to other people’s recovery because it’s just silly and we all heal at different rates. I also have to learn to love myself more. Most of us are so hard on ourselves, I know I definitely am. I think I’m also going to start counseling for some mental healing

I also wanted to say that I decided to put my review back up because of how many other reviewers have helped me. My smile is still funky so hence the mean muggin pics. So as for now I'm just going to be patient and let my body heal.

I bought some silicone strips for my scar. It looks great I just wanted to make sure it heals as flat as possible. I’m using that in combination with mederma cream. And here is my first “selfie” with the wonderful help of Snapchat lol.

It took about a year for me to like my chin after my implant. It definitely changed my face which I wasn’t expecting. The swelling was awful! But now I’m glad I did it :)

Thanks for your reply, this has been quite a journey so far. How was it for you showing your new appearance to family and friends? I’m so nervous about it. I know everyone will be supportive but I also know that no one is going to say omg what did you do to your face lol. I’m glad that you’re happy with your decision, it gives me hope. When did you notice the majority of the swelling decreased?

To be honest I don’t think most people even noticed! They probably just thought I lost weight as I only told close friends and family. The ones who knew said it looks good and natural too. I told people at work I was getting jaw surgery instead of cosmetic surgery because I felt weird telling them.
I think after about 3 months the real noticeable swelling was gone. I did have lumps there for about 6 months. They were rock hard and was convinced it couldn’t be swelling but eventually it did go down. It has been about 18 months now since the surgery for me. My surgeon didn’t explain anything to me so I was in the dark about it all which sucked!
