My 1st Bikini EVER!!!! (Chicago, IL)

I had lapband surgery 4 years ago and have since lost 100lbs. I knew that eventually I would have a tummy tuck but I did not want to have it done until I was closer to my goal weight. The last 25lbs were the hardest to lose, but I made it!
I know the recovery will be long. The recovery is what I am worried about the most as I am a single mom of 2 boys ages 8 and 14. I thought I could do this on my own but I've realized that I am going to need a little help this time. My mother will be flying in next week to help me and she will be staying with me for a week. Now I am feeling more at ease about the surgery and recovery.
My insurance is paying for the panniculectomy then I will be having a full tummy tuck with lipo of abdomen and flank. We also discussed the possibility of needing a vertical t-incision. I trust my surgeon's knowledge and expertise so I left this at his discretion. If he doesn't think it will make much of a difference he will not do the t-incision.
9 days until my surgery date and I am very anxious and excited!
3 days before surgery and my thoughts are running...
I feel a little guilty because my 8yr old baby keeps telling me not to get rid of my stomach. And he keeps asking me why do I want to be skinny? I told him I don't want to be skinny, I just want to look nice when I wear my jeans or a nice dress. I don't think he understands because of course he likes me the way I am. I also think he's gonna miss his pillow on my midsection because I'm sure it is very soft and comfy to him when we cuddle.
I went to the gym this morning probably for the last time for awhile. I am really going to miss going to my Body Pump class. It took some time for my body to get used to the class, but overtime I worked my way up to going 4 times a week and also doubled the weights on my bar. The class has really done wonders for my health and my strength. Now I'm afraid my body will turn into mush by the time I am able to workout again. It will be like starting all over again :(
I will be cleaning house, doing laundry, and cooking meals to freeze for the rest of the day. And my mom will be here on Tuesday!
I am just ready to get the surgery behind me and on the road to healing and a flat tummy!

The big thing for use will be to watch what we are eating after the surgery more than what we did before. Just think of the beautiful canvass we will have to work with after we are healed!

Hey Girlie,
Each person is different in the healing process so just go into this telling yourself it will be smooth sailing. Yes you will have some pain which is part of it but that will ease each day. You are in really good physical shape and health so that alone will make your recovery easier. All of the exercise you have done leading up to this will help you greatly.
Don't worry about going flabby. That won't happen. Once you start back exercising your body will snap back nicely. You have conditioned it for that. I was actually surprised at how quickly mine all came back in a short time.
Keep your chin up and stay positive. You are going to do just beautifully.

You will do just beautifully:) I will be thinking about you tomorrow and sending happy thoughts your way for a smooth recovery.
TT is complete! Surgery lasted 4 hours. Very...

Welcome! Glad you joined us and WOW what an accomplishment with the weight loss. Good job!
Your boys are old enough that they will actually be of help to you. But it's really nice that your mom is coming in to help you for a while. You will need the most help the first 1-2 weeks post op.
You will love the results of a flat tummy! What a perfect way to finish your journey. I look forward to following your posts and seeing the after pictures.
