WORTH IT$5,800

I had lapband surgery 4 years ago and have since lost 100lbs. I knew that eventually I would have a tummy tuck but I did not want to have it done until I was closer to my goal weight. The last 25lbs were the hardest to lose, but I made it!

I know the recovery will be long. The recovery is what I am worried about the most as I am a single mom of 2 boys ages 8 and 14. I thought I could do this on my own but I've realized that I am going to need a little help this time. My mother will be flying in next week to help me and she will be staying with me for a week. Now I am feeling more at ease about the surgery and recovery.

My insurance is paying for the panniculectomy then I will be having a full tummy tuck with lipo of abdomen and flank. We also discussed the possibility of needing a vertical t-incision. I trust my surgeon's knowledge and expertise so I left this at his discretion. If he doesn't think it will make much of a difference he will not do the t-incision.

9 days until my surgery date and I am very anxious and excited!

Congrats on your weight loss! I had gastric bypass 5 years ago and lost 140 pounds. I also knew I would eventually need a TT. Nothing can be done about the skin other than having the TT. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 24th. Keep posting and reading this site. It's a great source of comfort and support. Good luck!

I know you're going to look fab after your TT...I know you are excited about the big day..my big day is December 15th and I'm counting down. :-). Just keep us posted! And make sure you up your protein and take plenty of Vitamin C if you haven't already. Good luck!

Hi Stephanielpn, I see that your going to have a TT soon. If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost for the TT, and did you have to pay it all at once? I just had a breast reduction and i want a TT so bad but i don't have the money right now.
October 27, 2011
Hey Kimshells, I'm paying $5,240 for TT-I had to pay $1,000 deposit to book surgery and I'll pay remaining balance @ my pre-op which is November 15th.

Welcome!   Glad you joined us and WOW what an accomplishment with the weight loss.  Good job!

Your boys are old enough that they will actually be of help to you.  But it's really nice that your mom is coming in to help you for a while.  You will need the most help the first 1-2 weeks post op.

You will love the results of a flat tummy!  What a perfect way to finish your journey.  I look forward to following your posts and seeing the after pictures.

You will look incredible. Remember that recovery is mental. Just be patient and you will be fine.

3 days before surgery and my thoughts are running rapid. I have been reading reviews on some TTers who have had an easy recovery and some who have had a hard recovery. I am hoping and praying that my recovery will be easy.

I feel a little guilty because my 8yr old baby keeps telling me not to get rid of my stomach. And he keeps asking me why do I want to be skinny? I told him I don't want to be skinny, I just want to look nice when I wear my jeans or a nice dress. I don't think he understands because of course he likes me the way I am. I also think he's gonna miss his pillow on my midsection because I'm sure it is very soft and comfy to him when we cuddle.

I went to the gym this morning probably for the last time for awhile. I am really going to miss going to my Body Pump class. It took some time for my body to get used to the class, but overtime I worked my way up to going 4 times a week and also doubled the weights on my bar. The class has really done wonders for my health and my strength. Now I'm afraid my body will turn into mush by the time I am able to workout again. It will be like starting all over again :(

I will be cleaning house, doing laundry, and cooking meals to freeze for the rest of the day. And my mom will be here on Tuesday!

I am just ready to get the surgery behind me and on the road to healing and a flat tummy!

I have the same concerns about gaining weight after surgery I have lost 140 lbs from diet and exercise and now my body is use to exercise anywhere from 90-120 minutes a day and after surgery it will be 0. So i am concerned by I have started to slow down on exercise I have decreased to 60 minutes day trying to prepare my body next week or two i will go down to 45 minutes.
The big thing for use will be to watch what we are eating after the surgery more than what we did before. Just think of the beautiful canvass we will have to work with after we are healed!

Brookhaven2904, I am doing it!!! I can't even picture what my stomach would look like being flat. My stomach has never been flat even in my younger years because I was always overweight. It's so hard to believe! I will be thinking about you the day of my surgery when you officially start your journey!

Reframe that "starting over." You are not starting over. You are on the next phase of being healthy. Once you see what you have been working for, you will protect it like one of your babies. That is part of the transformation. Good luck. You are so deserving.

Hey Girlie,

Each person is different in the healing process so just go into this telling yourself it will be smooth sailing.   Yes you will have some pain which is part of it but that will ease each day.  You are in really good physical shape and health so that alone will make your recovery easier.  All of the exercise you have done leading up to this will help you greatly.

Don't worry about going flabby.  That won't happen.  Once you start back exercising your body will snap back nicely.  You have conditioned it for that.  I was actually surprised at how quickly mine all came back in a short time.

Keep your chin up and stay positive.  You are going to do just beautifully.

Thanks dear. I am very nervous, but I am getting good vibes and I am happy with my decision to have the surgery. My body has always healed quickly after having other surgeries so I think all will go well.
