Feeling Good! - Chicago, IL

2 weeks now...

It's exactly 2 weeks post op....I'm scared of destroying this thing, but last night I was able to start breathing out of it a little, also I don't think the taping at night is helping. The tape leaves residue on my face that I have to scrub off every morning, and I don't like being rough with the nose! Anyway, here's some pics...

I'm an idiot

recon906
Im about 10 days post op and last night I thought it would be a good idea to pull on a scab I thought was naturally coming out of my nostril. I am a dumb ass because I pulled out stitches. Not one but like 3 clumped together with a scab, sooooo Im not sure if I destroyed my nose, but so far today it hasn't fallen apart. I looked it up and it seems like I may be OK, but I was definitely scared, and pissed, I thought I wasted all this time and money. Nose looks good though, and seems like noone notices it as a big change.. ...my best friend didn't really even notice until I got in his face with it.

I'm dying not being able to do anything though...no sun, no soccer, no weights, no motorcycle riding, no salt, no fighting, I also forgot to tell Dr shah I wear glasses when I drive, so I haven't been wearing those either...oh yeah no smoking...suuuuuucks, I'm down to 2-3 cigarettes a day, but yeah even that's bad apparently....I didn't realize how active I was before I had this surgery, now it feels like I'm coddling a baby on my face.

Recovery is long and you do need to be careful. It is important to be strict with yourself, because otherwise to little selfcontrol will effect the outcome of your expensive surgery and longheld wish...

When is your next appointment? So he could check up on your "pulling".

Keep up the strength!

Ahhhhhhh it's so hard, I guess I kind of had a rough lifestyle, probably why I broke it so many times before...I can't handle watching my team play soccer games without me right now! You're totally right though, so much sacrifice, I gotta take as good of care as I can...I love the results so far though, I have no complaints about the aesthetics...I'm just a baby about the post care.

I think you got great results and your healing beautifully.

I would caution against returning to you pre rhinoplasty life though. Even once fully healed because the whole anatomy of your nose has been altered you will have to be careful and protect it because it will always be weaker than your original nose..Sounds like your very athletic and play sports you will have to be careful about being hit by a soccer ball or getting hit in the face.

Sorry not trying to be a downer just be cautious and aware.
Congrats tho you must be very happy!

Yeah thanks so much for your advice, yeah I didn't realize how much I've been hit in the face ... every day I'm in danger of ruining this nose, my coworker almost hit me with a football a few minutes ago..but I've been babying this thing, cut down on smoking, salts, no gym yet, no running yet, no pools yet, no atvs, motorcycles, off road trips, camping, I may slowly start resuming life in a week, I actually feel good, but the nose still feels like a concrete congestion.

Cast off!

recon906
Look who got their cast off mothafuckkkkkaaaaaaass.....I was so amazed how good it looks, I mean it's lumpy and totally swollen but still...if you look at my nose before, wow huuuuge difference. I was really worried about getting the cast off because some people looked absolutely terrible , uneven swelling, uneven nostrils, etc...I was expecting tons of asymmetry bit nope, just a little but of frumpyNess, and swelling throughout, but I can tell once it all goes down I'll have my dream nose. I had tons of worried ass questions ready to ask today, but totally went blank once the cast came off. I didn't even ask any of my questions, the doc and I just shother the [RS bleep] about his world travels and sports...love this guy. I asked if there was anything I could do for him since he totally changed my life and he said no need, "this is just humans helping each other" wow what a great guy. I think he realizes he could charge double and people would still pay, but he does this out of a philanthropic aspect as well. I would whole heartedly recommend this guy to anyone willing to cough up the dough, time, and go through some pain ha.

Hahah first review to crack me up. Nose looks ledge. I look like shrek. But not because of. Bad surgeon but because I have majorerrrrrerr tip swelling and a minor tip infection. I feel like I'll never look normal again but it's been what 7 days haha ... Cxxx

Ahhh you're probably good, I think it's human nature to fear the immediate results. Now we're in the same boat, stay off the salts, be glad you took the action to do something you've wanted, and just wait... someone pointed out that at 2 weeks post op youre only 2% recovered

Thanks for sharing! I had my surgery with shah. You're in good hands just follow his instructions. Everyones healing process is different. It's so disappointing that ppl leave such bad reviews, before they actually see results. Around the forth month is when my nose started unswelling, and evening out. Your noses will look great and the results so far look nice. Keep us updated!

Awesome!! Can we see a side profile photo?

I agreeee! Dr Shah is a unique individual. He makes you feel comfortable to ask any questions and talk about stuff outside of rhinoplasties. Good person and you can tell he wants you to be happy. He listens to all my concerns. I have weird swelling right now and I'm 5 months post but hopefully he can fix it. I have faith in him! And good luck to you with healing! Don't be tempted to think about it all the time. That was my biggest mistake. My new nose is all I think about lol and I freak out when I see swelling but I know that patience is very important

Yep I was totally prepared for wicked swelling for a year, my nose was so large and crooked before though that I am happy with my results right now even with swelling. One of the reasons I went with shah is he seemed dedicated to aftercare support and making sure the very final outcome, even years down the road, is good. I think he does touch ups and will even revise for free. It's probably hard to predict how differently everyone will heal, so him being honest about unexpected healing and necessary revisions is a huge bonus for going with shah. Throughout the whole process he has been so meticulous, but relaxed, it's a very unique combination.
