Hello,

I have been browsing this site for a while. Found a great doctor (dr shifrin) and really love his work. He said that I need a full TT.

I am confident in his work. But my biggest fear is the pain. I also noticed that I have left over 60 comments asking the same questions (was the pain manageable, did you have exparel? Lol)
The over all majority think that TT is painful especially for the first 3 days. Exparel seems to be a miracle drug in reducing the pain level the first 3 days.
Dr shifrin said he would use it if I want it. During the consultation he didn't seem to be that big on exparel. I would rather have it and take the chance that it might work than not have it at all.
I am a whimp!! I did give birth naturally to a big baby. When the pain was getting too extreme, I was in active labor and was given an epidural which is a miracle drug. :)
Is the tummy tuck pain cramp/achy feeling (period like?) or is it as bad as child birth?
I have been following some of the ladies getting TT one is getting it with dr shifrin. However he didn't use exparel on her but something similar. She said the surgery was very rough. One minute I tell my self I should just do it and another minute I get all scared and say that I can hide this mommy pouch :(

how did you manage the pain with TT?
Did anyone have a surgery with dr shifrin and had exparel?

Hi,
I just had a full TT with kipo and breat Aug. Im not going to sugar coat it the first couple days are tuff but totally worth it. I think the turning pt for pain is about 4days and the percocet took most the pain away. Its worse that a period but i didnt think it was as bad as child birth. Im four wks out now and pretty much only feel pinchy pully feelings but nothing major. You can make it through. I also didnt have exparel and im glad i think it woulda drove me crazy being numb from surgery and even more numb from that. Plus i liked being able to kinda feel if i was stretching to far after so i didnt rip any internal stitches

*lipo not kipo lol

That makes a lot of sense. I think I am getting a good idea about it. It worries me when people say that narcotics barely takes the edge off. That's severe pain. But at the same time I can't live with this mommy pouch. Thank you <3

That was me :) The recovery is rough but that's expected. I've been out of surgery for almost 48 hours and I am feeling a little better each hour. I haven't taken off the compression garment but everyone has commented how much thinner I look. My vaginal area is still numb from whatever medicine he used. I wanted it so bad that I kept moving forward.

Yep!! Lol I was talking about you :P
I worry. I don't want things to go bad and blame myself for going through it. I just want to be able to manage the pain. But you and along with many other ladies say the pain is there and medicine doesn't help. Is it sever pain? The kind where you can't breath through it?
Also, I saw your photos, and oh my gosh you look so thin!! He did an awesome job. I love his work.

The pain is bad, but I don't know how well tolerate pain. One of those things blonde know unless and until you do it.

Narcotics took a good amount of pain away. I only used five days worth and switched to ibuprophen. I got myself so worked up before hand and i actually dont remember the first day after or so. I couldnt live w my pooch either lol. Good luck!

I am now almost 10 months post TT and like you, my biggest fear was the pain. I think it is really such a personal threshold and no two experiences will be the same. My point is do not psych yourself out beforehand because that will probably be the crippling part of it all. Surgery is surgery and yes it can be painful and uncomfortable, but believe me when you look back and love the results, the mind has a beautiful way of getting past it...just like childbirth!

I emailed the doctor asking if I can make a deposit on a date. I agree with you about not psyching my self and stay positive.
My only fear is that I won't be able to manage the pain. Would you say pain was manageable?

I would say manageable with meds and again, not sugar coating, you will be in some pain and uncomfortable. The simplest things like using the bathroom, coughing, sneezing, etc...in the first few days are tasking, but so very worth it at the end of the day. Just take the recovery one day at a time, look forward to the first shower day, thats a Gold Star day! :)

Thanks! I going to need it after hearing how much the lipo hurts and burns!!!
October 3, 2016
He doesn't use that but something similar :)
October 3, 2016
Really? I haven't heard of something else that's similar and lasts as long. They are going to charge me an extra 300 dollars for exparel. I would like to get that drug lol
October 3, 2016
Did you get a charge for exparel?

I am wondering @icantbelieveiamdoingit28 did you get charged for exparel? I am thinking no, since he didn't use it on you.

My surgery is December first as well! 1200 to stay overnight? I am getting a BBL! If that will allow him to take out the most amount of fat, I may do it!
October 15, 2016
Yeah. It's an extra 1200 for over night stay.

I came from Batavia. In March there must not have been the option to stay. I had a bumpy 50 min car ride home and back the next AM. I still don't think I would have paid $1200 looking back.

Do this. I can't tell you what a life changer my TT had been. Shifrin gave me something I didn't think was possible anymore at 38 years of age after 2 C-sections. I would pay twice as much and do it all over again. Don't think twice. You'll never look back.

Scared!! But I Am Ready

susu41986

Hello ladies ..
I have started a review about two years ago. I chickened out and was too scared to book my surgery.
I kept reading stories and looking at pictures on realself. I am just too unhappy with the way my stomach looks. I figured some downtime is worth it for a life time of happiness (I hope). So I booked my surgery for December 11th. Full tummy tuck (drainless) with MR and lipo to flanks.
I am also paying extra for exparel.

Surgery is coming up, I haven’t prepared anything yet.
I read in one of the reviews about a body pillow ? Or something to help with sleeping?
I have a manual recliner, I am not sure if I will be able to use it, as it requires some force to push it back.
I have a sectional with a side I thought I can sleep on with pillows or a special body pillow?
Any suggestions?
What are some of your must have’s?
