He is a great doctor with great bedside manner
Hello, I have been browsing this site for a...
I have been browsing this site for a while. Found a great doctor (dr shifrin) and really love his work. He said that I need a full TT.
I am confident in his work. But my biggest fear is the pain. I also noticed that I have left over 60 comments asking the same questions (was the pain manageable, did you have exparel? Lol)
The over all majority think that TT is painful especially for the first 3 days. Exparel seems to be a miracle drug in reducing the pain level the first 3 days.
Dr shifrin said he would use it if I want it. During the consultation he didn't seem to be that big on exparel. I would rather have it and take the chance that it might work than not have it at all.
I am a whimp!! I did give birth naturally to a big baby. When the pain was getting too extreme, I was in active labor and was given an epidural which is a miracle drug. :)
Is the tummy tuck pain cramp/achy feeling (period like?) or is it as bad as child birth?
I have been following some of the ladies getting TT one is getting it with dr shifrin. However he didn't use exparel on her but something similar. She said the surgery was very rough. One minute I tell my self I should just do it and another minute I get all scared and say that I can hide this mommy pouch :(
how did you manage the pain with TT?
Did anyone have a surgery with dr shifrin and had exparel?

I worry. I don't want things to go bad and blame myself for going through it. I just want to be able to manage the pain. But you and along with many other ladies say the pain is there and medicine doesn't help. Is it sever pain? The kind where you can't breath through it?
Also, I saw your photos, and oh my gosh you look so thin!! He did an awesome job. I love his work.

My only fear is that I won't be able to manage the pain. Would you say pain was manageable?

I am wondering @icantbelieveiamdoingit28 did you get charged for exparel? I am thinking no, since he didn't use it on you.
Over night stay?
I asked and its offered for an extra charge of $1200.
Thoughts?

Do this. I can't tell you what a life changer my TT had been. Shifrin gave me something I didn't think was possible anymore at 38 years of age after 2 C-sections. I would pay twice as much and do it all over again. Don't think twice. You'll never look back.

Scared!! But I Am Ready
Hello ladies ..
I have started a review about two years ago. I chickened out and was too scared to book my surgery.
I kept reading stories and looking at pictures on realself. I am just too unhappy with the way my stomach looks. I figured some downtime is worth it for a life time of happiness (I hope). So I booked my surgery for December 11th. Full tummy tuck (drainless) with MR and lipo to flanks.
I am also paying extra for exparel.
Surgery is coming up, I haven’t prepared anything yet.
I read in one of the reviews about a body pillow ? Or something to help with sleeping?
I have a manual recliner, I am not sure if I will be able to use it, as it requires some force to push it back.
I have a sectional with a side I thought I can sleep on with pillows or a special body pillow?
Any suggestions?
What are some of your must have’s?

Congratulations on the upcoming surgery!
I am providing a link to RealSelf's Tummy Tuck Recovery Time, along with a question and answer from a board certified doctor for you. I hope you find this information helpful.
What type of equipment is needed after tummy tuck?
Please feel free to continue to update the community on how the pre and post-op goes!
I just had a full TT with kipo and breat Aug. Im not going to sugar coat it the first couple days are tuff but totally worth it. I think the turning pt for pain is about 4days and the percocet took most the pain away. Its worse that a period but i didnt think it was as bad as child birth. Im four wks out now and pretty much only feel pinchy pully feelings but nothing major. You can make it through. I also didnt have exparel and im glad i think it woulda drove me crazy being numb from surgery and even more numb from that. Plus i liked being able to kinda feel if i was stretching to far after so i didnt rip any internal stitches
