Hi all! I am taking the plunge and going into surgery to fix what pregnancy did to me. I am pretty petite and had two fairly large babies that left my abdominal area pretty banged up. I started researching the TT when I found out I had a huge hernia that needed to be fixed and decided this is the route I wanted to take for I also have separation on the abdominal muscles and stretched/loose skin that I've hated since after pregnancy. So that being said, I go into surgery in a few hours, wish me luck and I will keep everyone posted on how my surgery went and recovery:)

Thanks Christeee! I did an update for you! When are you going in for surgery?
December 25, 2014
Thanks for your updates! I don't have a date yet. I am still thinking about it and researching doctors. I exercise normally and am afraid recovery will take a long time. But I do know I have to get it done sooner rather than later. My ab walls are still distended (I believe it's called diastasis recti) and my older daughter is 9 yrs. old. With the stomach repair, I'm thinking I may want to even out my breasts. I hear it's less expensive to do it all at once. Merry Christmas and hope you heal quickly and smoothly!! :)

I hear ya, I reaearched this for years before doing it but my hernia kept getting bigger dobu said its time! I'm really happy I did it, pain and all! Exercising before is the best thing to do so that your other muscles in your legs and arms can compensate a little for not being able to use your ab muscles. Honestly in my opinion it hasn't been horrible. If you have a good support system you will be just fine but you def need to give yourself enough time to heal before rushing back to work or anything like that. This time of year worked best for me bc my husband got lots of time off for the holidays and my mom was able to come here and help so that's been huge! I actually had my 1 week PO appt today and got the drains out, what a relief, those things just get to be a pain in the butt! I also got the stitches out of my new belly button and my steri strips off my incision. It's not the prettiest but i know it will be worth it

Just wanted to update you all. My surgery was done by about 7 pm last night. Woke up pretty sore from the MR. So far that seems to be what's giving me the most pain. I had trouble peeing last night bc of the anesthesia so they had to put in a catheter to drain my bladder before I could go home. I'm going just fine now and am able to get up and go by myself. I'm so glad I bought a wedge pillow for sleeping, it's been the best thing! Drs said everything went great and besides the delay of my surgery I couldn't be happier with how things went.

Hi! I'm Offically 5 days out now. Standing up a little straighter and off pain meds so far today. Finally had a BM today thanks to the colace my PS prescribed me. I have my 1 week check up tomorrow in the city, hoping to get the drains out! Should be able to since I'm not draining much anymore. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, first few days were a little rough and I was out of it but starting to feel like myself again. So lucky to have such great help from my awesome husband and mom! Don't be afraid to let people help you, it's the only way for you to heal properly!! I will update more soon and post some pics soon;).

Hi, Congratulations on your procedure! I have mine done on Monday and I am a NERVOUS WRECK! I have scheduled mine 4 times over the past 2 years and am finally going through with it. I hope I do as well as it sounds you are doing. Best of luck with your recovery.

Hi Finally Yay! Yes it is very nerve wrecking but honestly once your home its better. Something about being I. A hospital at least that's my experience. I just tried to remain as calm as I could and honestly the surgery is the easy part since your knocked out. The anesthesiologist can give you something to calm you down too of your really nerved up. I swear they gave that to me and I was out! I've put off the surgery for a few yrs now bc I was so scared but I am so happy I finally did it! Your gonna feel rough after surgery but just take your pain meds and know that with each day you get better and better. I'm here if you need any advice:))

Congrats to you! It sounds like we had similiar surgeries! I am 3 weeks post op today and feeling good!! Still very tight feeling in the abs but I'm expecting it to be that way for a while since I also had a big hernia and a significant muscle repair! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
