I am a 50 year old female and I've spent thousands of dollars on my face over the past 20 plus years to correct the severe acne scarring I incurred from many years of suffering from cystic acne. I heard about PDO sutures (aka Nova Threads) and decided to give it a try as I now have to also deal with sagging skin due to the effects of gravity!
I specifically wanted to lift the lower third of my face which is rife with rolling acne scars and the remnants of Bio-Alcamid injections from 2004. Just a disclaimer: I will try anything once!
Alas, sometimes once is not enough - especially when it comes to cosmetic or plastic surgery procedures since the body is always changing (and working against you)!
I took before photos at the medical spa where I was treated and the after pics are taken at home so the lighting and background are totally different.
Anyway, my analysis: It has only been one week and I am not sure I can tell a heck of a lot has changed yet but I am willing to be optimistic and give another review after a month has passed.
I did have quite a bit of discomfort and some (tolerable) pain in my cheeks where the sutures where placed; also some bruising which is still visible after one week ( I did not take any OTC pain meds or ice as recommended). The first few days it was hard to open my mouth wide and eating was confined to tiny mouth bites but that was probably good for me since I eat too fast anyway!
It looks like I may need a second set of sutures under my jaw to lift my jowls to where I want them but it's going to be awhile before that happens. Threads are supposed to last 12-18 months. If warranted, I will give another follow-up in a few weeks, if I notice any significant changes, for better or for worse!

Who did you go to? Would you recommend the procedure?

Four Weeks Post Procedure

Now that all the swelling has gone down, I can honestly say the PDO sutures I had inserted (lower third of face) are not worth the $1,000 price tag. I did not get the result (albeit subtle) that I was looking for and I honestly can't see any difference pre or post procedure.
I would however, be willing to have another set of sutures put in under my chin to see if that makes any difference; it is still less expensive than traditional facial surgery and less invasive.
I could have better spent the grand on Belafil, which is my next step in corrective acne scarring revision.
Stay tuned!

did you have them done by an expert? Novathreads are the best PDO in my humble opinion

Have you had nova threads inserted?

PDO is fantastic for a lift but microneedling by a provider than can treat all levels of Amin is fantastic

I see a hugger difference. If you want such a dramatic change you need to do a mid and lower lift

Dermarolling at home with 1.5 Mum needle length and numbing every 6 weeks will sort out your scars, I do it myself, it works and doesn't cost hardly anything [RS bleep]

I just started the derma roller or aka needling, I am using the .25 mm roller and a Vitamin C and HA oil and I think it is beginning to show signs of repair. I am going to get a bigger roller, maybe like the above stated a 1.5 mm and see if the collagen repair is better,. I have seen a lot about needling on YouTube and it seems to work, so we’ll see.

A doctor has told me that anything length needle under 1mm DOES NOT stimulate collagen whatsoever, but help products go in.
So dermarolling for wrinkles or stretch mark would only respond to 1.5 mm no more than once every 6/8 weeks. If done too often we mow down the new collagen that isn't bein formed and it is therefore counterproductive.
I do my face once every 3 months with 1.5 mm and have done for years and years. It works but less is more and patience is the key [RS bleep]

I would recommend saving your money for REAL facelift....non invasive methods offer minimal results....except botox which offert real improvement in the eye area...also start retinol and vitamins
