I am really happy that UCH as approved my surgery. I am schedule for VSG 9/28/17. I'm starting to feel nervous now.
I started my journey as of 1/2/2017 after seeing the scale tip of 280 I knew I had to stop. I just cannot imagine being of 300lbs! I started high blood pressure medicine the year before and was pre diabetic. I knew that if I did not do something I was on the long road to dying early.
I have been exercising and eating more healthy, so I guess that is why I have lost weight prior to surgery, I am trying really had to get my mind more focused on healthy eating.
I did not have any problems with insurance UHC approving my surgery from day one when I called them I think they knew I was very serious about getting this done. They were very supportive of me getting the sleeve and even gave me a pre approval to my surgeon.
I will definitely update my photos with before, during and after pics.

Final dr apt 9/20 before 9/28/17 surgery. I am feeling a little nervous. I am going to post pics of my current weight and pics before and after surgery. Hopefully, that will help someone who is thinking about having VSG:)

Where in Chicago are you having your surgery done? You listed the cost is $12,000. Is that what your insurance company is paying?

Hi, yes believe it or not my insurance actually preapproved me in March!!!!! They called my surgeon and personally gave them my final approval!! So, other than me calling them Jan 2017 they did everything else. I have not paid any thing yet. I'm really stunned that they approved so fast. I live in West Suburbs near Oak Brook. The surgeon is in Elmwood Park.

The surgeon was given to me by insurance company in March I have met with him 3 times this Wed 9/20 will be my final visit before surgery. I don't like the office staff very much, it's just they take too long to return calls. I find that I have to call them to make sure they have everything. But the surgeon is nice.

Correction, I'm sorry I do pay when I see surgeon so far I have paid $163.28, it's automatically deducted from my FSA, so sometimes I forget. I think the surgery is $12K but it may be less I will know more when I see dr 9/20.

I had to pay $25 a month for 6 months of nutrition classes and a $15 co-pay to see the Dr. which has been twice so far. I have one more appointment with him on Oct 5, 2017 to sign consent forms, then surgery on the 9th. My insurance paid for the surgery and I was approved in 2 weeks mainly because my drs. office took a while to send paperwork, ins has a 3 day process for approval.

Im glad you have a surgery date!! We both have surgeries schedule close together. I hope we can support each other :)

Well, I start my 5 days pre surgery clear liquid diet tomorrow. Wish me luck!
