Hi Realself community. I have decided to share my experience as this site has helped me so so so much to gather the courage needed to go through w my rhinoplasty. i have hated my nose forever. Mostly I have not done this before as I have been to afraid. I have consulted w two doctors in Chicago. Dr Platis and Dr A Shah. I liked them both but feel that Shah is way more experienced in rhino as a facail platic surgeon. He has done over 2000 and is double cerified as a ent as well. I am scheduled in exactly a month and am very excited. I am going to have lower eyelid surgery and fat transfer as i have bags and fat loss under my eyes. I know its alot.
As for the concerns I have I am mostly afraid of the anesthesia. I am a nurse and although I have heard horror stories mostly I know it is safe. The 1600 reviews of people who lived to tell have helped as well. I am also afraid of waking up in pain or while intubated. LOL! I have not heard anyone have had that happen but still its a fear. Also throwing up is a concern but I can live w it if it happens. I hope I don't freak out as I am know to have anxiety attacks. I plan on asking for meds to take the night before.
Of course I am afraid of not liking the results. I have alot of faith in Dr Shah thought. There is no way I will regret this as I already dislike the nose I have. I will keep you all posted as things progress. If anyone else has had the lower bleph/fat transfer I wonder if the recovery is alot worse.
Thanks everyone for sharing your stories is has helped me tremendously.

Thanks for starting your story! I'm glad the site has been helpful for you so far and I'm sure your review will help others as well.
You're going into this with the right attitude--looking for improvement but not necessarily perfection. That will go a long way toward helping you get through the process.
I never woke up during my rhino or threw up afterward. I'm sure the anesthesiologist will keep you comfortable. And you could ask for anti-nausea meds in your IV as well.
Please keep us posted! April 26th will be here before you know it!
