Due to a trauma at birth, I had a rhinoplasty at age 14 to correct nasal asymmetry and reconstruct the tip. I decided to have a revision surgery 20 years later because the tip was very pointed and the nose still lopsided. I was very self-conscious about how it looked and was constantly having to wear makeup on my nose to not only to hide the scar but also to camouflage the asymmetry. I would pose for pictures a certain way so as to hide the asymmetry. I was constantly conscious of how it might appear to other people, and it really weighed on my self-esteem. I selected Dr. Shah because of his experience, reputation in the field, and many positive reviews from his patients. He reassured me that he would be able to improve the appearance. I had a lot of extra cartilage in the tip of my nose (taken from my ear in the first surgery) and my columella was very lopsided. It was a possibility that he would have to use more cartilage to reconstruct the tip, but since there was lot to work with, he didn't have to. My columella is a lot less lopsided (barely noticeable to most people) and my tip is more rounded and looks similar to my sister's (I had told Dr. Shah before the surgery with my sister waiting with me in the pre-op room that she has the perfect nose in my opinion). My nose definitely looks more natural. The first surgery left me a a more angular tip, and now it is much softer in appearance. Also, it feels a lot sturdier. Dr. Shah noted that the first surgeon did not connect the columella to the septum. Dr. Shah did this time around, and I can definitely feel a difference. The healing process was painless. I only took extra strength tylenol the first day as a precaution (I probably didn't even need it). There was tolerable discomfort caused by drainage for the first couple of days post-op. But that is to be expected and a very small price to pay, in my opinion. I took the week off of work (I was off for 9 days total). When I returned, no one suspected I had surgery. Not one person! I followed all of the post-op directions strictly such as icing the first few days and sleeping in an elevated position on my back with pillows propped under me. I slept like this for about double the recommended time as a precaution to decrease swelling and to ensure I wouldn't move around too much while I slept to prevent injuring my nose. So far, I have had one follow up appointment, and I have my next one in a few days. (I will post pictures when I receive them.)

I noticed that all of Shahs posts mention the word "natural" nose. I don't really understand that. Describe what "natural" means to you? You also mentioned that you had your nose done 4 months ago and you only had one follow up appointment with Shah?

What I mean by "natural" is that the tip of my nose is more rounded and not pointy or angular like it was after my first surgery. Once I post pictures you should be able to see what I'm talking about.

How much is he charging you to improve your nostril asymmetry?

Hello,

Could you please post some before and after pictures?

Yes I would love to see them too. I'm considering him but having doubts. So glad it worked for you!
