Day 5 and I have lost maybe 2-5 hairs from the areas that were injected. For some reason my hair stopped shedding immediately.
My scalp is still sore in places, like it's bruised in spots. Other than that, no real pain.

I have been battling hormonal hairless and hereditary hair loss for almost 20 years. I am 43. Finesteride has helped lots but not enough. I went for prp in the Chicago area. The pain was about an 8/9 on a scale if 1-10 during the procedure. Others said no pain. It was pretty bad! I'll update Photo results.

Are you going back for more treatment? Was the PRP done with Acell?

She had said she uses something she thinks works better than A-cell and similar but I don't know exactly what it was. I have not done spiro... I'll see how this round goes and then decide if I will go back. The odd thing though is I have not lost one hair over the past two days in the area treated. Just had to note that!

Also my hormones have always been off as well as my thyroid it started with progesterone but now in my 40's it's all of them! An elimination diet and grain free diet with probiotics and digestive enzymes grew all of my hair back in and kept it for awhile but them hormones took over again!!

The main hormone that's "off" for me is DHEA-S, which shows as slightly elevated above the "normal" range.
Did she mention how many treatments you would need? Or is it a one-time treatment?
Did she also do microneedling? Would be interested to know what else she did in addition to the PRP and why she finds it more effective than Acell...

This was my first. It's day 4 days post and I still have not lost any hairs from the top where they injected. I'll see how much growth I have before I decide to go back. The pain was awful so I have to make sure it's worth it.

Hi, I'm scheduled for PRP in Chicago in a couple of weeks. I'm nervous about how I will feel the next day. If there will be significant swelling and if it will look obvious that I've had a hair scalp treatment. How was it for you? I just started finesteride and have been using Minoxidil - but honestly the Rogaine didn't help. I just keep using it in fear that more hair will fall out if I discontinue. I would love to keep in touch and compare notes over time.

You cannot tell the next day at all. No scabbing, you can wash your hair etc although you won't want to pull in it or comb directly to the scalp. Scalp will be sore and tender. Headache possibly. It'll feel right but it's not terrible. The actually injections were tough but maybe your dr will numb more! A week later if I raise my eyebrows my head feels bruised in 2 spots.
A week later though, my hair still is not falling out at all from the top. But everyone is different.

I have a question about the hormone statuses. What type of doc did you see for such specific results?

If it's hormonal, has anyone suggested taking Saw Palmetto supplements? Sometimes it can help a little bit, to counter hair loss from Androsterone and diminishing female hormones from being middle aged. I take Saw Palmetto.
