I had a deviated septum and a hump. Dr. Turowski did a wonderful job! I now have a cute nose. Natural looking. You'd think I was born with this nose. Dr. Turowski was so nice and happy to answer questions. I am so glad I chose him to fix my nose. I am so much more confident now. Choosing Dr. Turowski to do my rhinoplasty/septoplasty is the best decision I've ever made. I am so happy with the results!

Ever since I was little I always had a hump on my nose. I always hated it. To make things worse, I hit my nose straight on when I was around 9 years old on my bunk bed. Since then my septum was deviated and my nose looked worse. The tip was bulbous and flat and my nose looked crooked. My sense of smell was also a bit messed up after that as was my breathing (mainly at night). So finally after begging and begging my parents for years to let me get a nose job, they agreed. I was finally going to fix the one thing that made me hate taking pictures and made me feel insecure. After doing research on many plastic surgeons in the Chicagoland area, I decided to go with Dr. Turowski from New Horizons Center for Cosmetic Surgery.

The consultation was free which was a major plus. The office was really pretty and clean. I didn't have to wait an exaggerated amount of time before I saw the doctor and the staff was amazingly friendly. I was super confident about New Horizons Center for Cosmetic Surgery even before I met the doctor lol. Dr. Turowski was friendly and happy to answer my questions. He seemed very knowledgeable and was very professional. I told him what I wanted to fix and then I saw pictures of his previous patients (I was very impressed with the natural looking results in all of his patients). I also thought it was awesome that they would do the surgery right there in the office at their fully accredited facility instead of at a hospital. I decided I wanted Dr. Turowski to do my surgery and I then saw the office manager, Cece who explained the costs and insurance and such. Cece was very helpful throughout the whole payment process and getting approval from my insurance to cover the septoplasty. Finally I had everything ready and I was just waiting till May 2nd when I'd finally get my surgery.

The day of the surgery came faster than I expected. I arrived to the center and was taken to a room to change into the gown thingy. I was also given some really comfy sock/slippers. I peed in a cup for....I'm not sure exactly lol I signed some papers and met with some nurses, and the anesthesiologist (who was very nice and asked me if I had questions and made me feel super confident). I also met with Dr. Turowski and he asked if I had any questions (I reshowed him the pictures of the type of nose I liked, just to be safe :D). I am afraid of needles so I got nervous when I realized that I would be given the anesthesia through an iv but the anesthesiologist's nurse was super good. I barely even felt when she pricked me. So then I was taken into the surgery room. I laid down and then they put some inflating pressure taking thingymabobbers on my legs, some blankets, and some monitoring thingies on my chest and head. The anesthesiologist then said he would give me something to calm me down and the next thing I know I'm in the recovery room with my family and the nurse was putting ice on my face. I was in no pain whatsoever. My sister showed me a video in which I was talking to Dr. Turowski and the nurses but I have no recollection of that haha. I got home and I slept most of the day. I did have some pain but it was nothing. It just felt like pressure on my nose, nothing extremely horrible. My top teeth were also sore and my top gums were a bit bruised but again I was never in a lot of pain. The next day I was more swollen and I was purple under my eyes. Kind of like a black eye but I never got more swollen than I was the day after my surgery. On May 4th my bruises were already healing and the swelling kind of went down from my eyes more towards my cheeks. I had chubby cheeks for two days after. The cast wasn't very uncomfortable; I think the thing that bothered me most was breathing through my mouth. I woke up with a veeryyyyy dry mouth (I kept some water nearby which helped a lot). I didn't bleed a lot either. I stopped using gauze on May 5th but the day before I had more of a runny nose than bloody. After that, I was more comfortable without the gauze and my bruises were lightening up and were yellowish instead of dark and purple. By May 8th my bruises were not even noticeable.

May 10th, I finally got the cast taken off and I am extremely happy with the results. I now have a cute natural nose!! Okay, so Dr. Turowski removed the cast, it was a bit uncomfortable but did not hurt at all. He then removed my stitches, which was painful but getting my tattoos hurt more. So those of you with tattoos can probably imagine the pain with removing the stitches. It hurt but not enough to start screaming or anything. My eyes barely teared up. Right after the cast was removed my nose was a bit squared off but Dr. Turowski assured me that it would get better and less squared. It was only because of the cast. Anywho, he cleaned off the glue left on my nose and placed some tape which I can remove on the fourteenth. By the end of the day my nose looked waaayy better than right after the cast was taken off; you wouldn’t be able to tell that I had an open rhinoplasty/ septoplasty 8 days ago.

Getting my nose fixed was the best decision of my life. I am so glad I chose Dr. Turowski. I hope this helps anyone interested in getting their nose fixed. I believe that if it'll help you both physically and emotionally you should totally do it. Just as long as you do your research and choose a good doctor. Remember! Don't just choose a doctor because it'll be cheaper b/c you'll end up regretting it. It was a bit expensive to choose Dr. Turowski, I could have easily chosen another doctor who charged two thousand dollars less but had less experience and less impressive credentials. Do your homework, trust your instincts and good luck! I will post more pictures once I take off the tape. I will also try to get my hands on the pictures Dr. Turowski took of me (^_^)
