I really wanted the surgery for two reasons 1. I had a Rectus Diastasis due to full term twins which was causing lower back pain. I did some PT for it and I always felt worse afterwards 2. The damage done to my midline would never repair on its own no matter how much exercise and weight lost. Same goes for my breast, I might as well do it while I am out of commission.

I had 2 other consultations before selecting Dr.Shifrin. My first was with a lady in the North Burbs who I sensed was a crook, and indeed she was since she billed my insurance for the "free" consultation. The second doctor was a bit of a sales man who mentioned he could also do "this" and "that" and I had never even thought about back fat till he mentioned it.

I went to real self to read reviews and see before and afters. I really needed to see and read the stories and experiences from real people - and I didn't get that from the other doctors. Also, I couldn't find any examples of what I wanted at the other doctors - not too many people have a natural breast lift without sticking inflatables in. At my age, I would have to have a second surgery if I put in inflatable and it was another layer of risk I didn't want to put on myself. And since I was petrified of the surgery I didn't want to go in knowing I would probably have to do another in 20 years or so. I just wanted to put back what I had, that in itself would be the miracle.

Looking at the before and afters Dr.Shifrin had the nicest results...no frankenstein scars, weirdo belly buttons, and some of his before and afters were simply miraculous. I could tell he had a good proportion sense and an artistic eye. When I met with him, he was down to earth and positive. Not ego driven at all. And he listened to what I wanted and answered all my questions without offering additional services or talking down to me. He was calm when I was freaking out. And his office staff is great. He also put me in touch with another patient that I could talk to. What can I say, I like him.

4 Months out from surgery I am really happy and do not miss my bags, sags, or excess shmaltz. My boobs are back to when I was a 20 year old and my tummy has never been this taught and flat. I do not regret having the surgery at all. I was afraid I could never do yoga again...and I took a class the other day and it was totally fine. Also I can run now, and that is fine too. I also no longer have the back pain. I am not sure if I will get sensation in certain areas, but it was a trade off I was willing to take. I will keep Dr.Shifrin in mind in case anyone ever ask for a good plastic surgeon or for future needs ; )

Beautiful, beautiful! Thank you so much for paying it forward and sharing your experience. What sorts of things did you eat and drink as you were recovering?

Well I read that you should be as healthy as possible to bounce back faster and that also means a healthy diet. So drank tons of water, and ate nutrient rich healthy foods...even if you are not so hungry after surgery. Boiled eggs, toast with avocado, and greek yogurt were my main staples. Also, drank quite a few Gatorade and vitamin water.

Great results. My story is similar - 3 kids, including full term twins, Anastasia, etc. I'm scared of the recovery, but im pretty sure I will do it. My twins are only a year old, so trying to time it right. You look great

Diastasis not Anastasia....

Timing is really important. I had 4 more weeks or my au pair and it was summer so I didn't have to drop kids off. My husband was also really understanding. So I could spend first 3 days in my room. My twins were almost 2. As soon as I could help and be around them, I did, but but I did not pick up anyone for 6 weeks. Climbing on the lap is okay or laying next to me in bed for books or TV. I liked doing it in the summer so I didn't have to put too many clothes on sometimes I was not even wearing underpants since it was easier not to mess with my drip tubes and bandages along my pelvis everytime I needed to wee. Just left a blanket over me while laying on bed. The getting up and walking and going to wee is good, but I didn't want to mess with the other stuff.Happy to give you any other tips.

Yes, pls. Thanks so much for sharing I've postponed my procedure until April, so I can have someone stay with me for 4 weeks. I'm terrified of the recovery.

You look great! Who else did you consider? Heard anything good/bad about Dr. Wiener? Dr. Mustoe? How bad was the pain?
