Follow-Up
So it has been about a month since my procedure and I have to say that I am very content with the results! I have seen about a 40% to 60% decrease in sweat from my everyday life. In more stressful situations where I would literally drip, I have seen about a 20% to 30% decrease. I can wear colored shirts and not have pitters down to my rib cage which is HUGE! For presentations and whatnot, I still revert back to my black tops and blazers but I am not sweating through both articles of clothing anymore (more just like one). I plan to do a follow-up procedure, which I pretty much knew going into it that I would need it.
Recovery Time
As for my recovery, it went pretty smoothly. I had major bruising and swelling but it went down very fast. By end of week two, you could barely notice I had anything done. I used the frozen water bottle trick but I would recommend putting them in socks to not burn yourself.
I plan for my next procedure to be in early March. I will keep you guys posted.
Thanks!

I have a pretty severe case of hyperhidrosis. We...
I have a pretty severe case of hyperhidrosis. We are talking hands/feet/groin/armpits and I've been noticing my cranial area now becoming more sweaty... is it possible this gets worse with age? I am a 25 year old female and I've been suffering since around the age of 10. Like most people on this site, I have done a lot of "tactics" to try and hide it:
-wear black outfits/baggy clothes with dark colors/NOTHING tight
-sit in my car with the A/C on full blast (even in winter) with my hands over the vents to try to get them to stop sweating
-run from any situation where I have to hold hands with someone
-go to the bathroom to wipe my feet/armpits bc they are dripping even put pads in my shirts to try to not have armpit stains
I tried Botox which didn't really work/last and it was super expensive. I also use the water baths which do help but it is so time consuming and living with roommates makes it hard to try and hide carrying tubs of water to my room.
I loved reading people's experience on this site bc it made me realize I am not alone. No one else in my family has this so they don't really understand what its like to sit around damp and uncomfortable all day. Not trying to have a pity party here so I will say I am so excited I found miraDry and I pray pray pray it works! Even if I am not bone dry... just not to drip or have stains down to my rib cage would be HUGE!
First Procedure:
So I went to the Chicago Cosmetic Surgery & Dermatology and had my procedure done with Stephanie Fox. She is hands down amazing. Made me feel so comfortable, talked the whole time to distract me and answered all my questions. She also got the procedure done herself so told me what to expect and her results. Even called me the following Monday to check on me. I got the procedure done on a Friday, which I would recommend bc I was out of commission for the whole weekend. I posted up, watched movies and iced my armpits with frozen water bottles. PLEASE be careful, always cover the water bottles with a paper towel or something bc I did give myself a small ice burn. Also, do it at level 5. If you don't you are not getting the best deal.
I wont go into great detail about the procedure bc I think a lot of people get the gist of it. I had about 5 to 10 small shots to numb my armpits and then had the lidocaine put it. (that was the hardest part pain scale 3 out of 10). I had a stress ball which helped. EAT BEFORE TOO! I also took a hydrocodone before so if you have anything like that pop one in 30 minutes before you start. After everything was prepped I didn't feel a think with the actual miradry machine.
After Procedure:
My armpits swelled pretty bad. Keep icing and you'll be fine. I had a few sweating spells throughout my recovery and noticed I am damp but not enough to give me stains. Keep in mind this is a HUGE difference from my normal dripping. Stephanie also said with my case I would need two treatments to get me where I want to be (all at level 5). I am optimistic but also scared bc I am seeing dampness within 4 days of getting my procedure done and I am still a little swollen. I read that some people were bone dry the whole time but again not sure on the severity of their hyperhidrosis. If any of my other severe hyperhidrosis friends could let me know if they experienced the same thing and if you still saw improvements months out that would give me a huge peace of mind!
I will continue to post how everything is going in the next weeks/months. Please leave any comments if you have questions. I will check back in to respond.
