I have suffered from gynecomastia for over thirty...
In June, I decided I wanted to be comfortable wearing a t-shirt or polo shirt without another shirt underneath. I also was fed up with avoiding my reflection getting in and out of the shower every morning.
After researching for 5 weeks and consulting with four different surgeons, I made the plunge and had the surgery two days ago. I am so happy that I did. I followed my surgeons instructions to the letter (i.e. quit smoking for 3 weeks, did not take aspirin or other blood-thinning pain relievers for 4 weeks before the procedure), and the surgery was a success.
If you suffer from gynecomastia, I highly recommend you have this procedure. Do your research and get several consultations. Be sure to ask each surgeon for how long and how many gynecomastia procedures s/he has done. Also, ask for before/after photos of patients who have had the same surgery.

Dr. Iteld performed my surgical procedure two days ago. During my post-op appointment yesterday, I was so shocked by the results, I was speechless (ask any of my friends--this never happens!). For the first time since I was prepubescent I have a FLAT chest. No more man-boobs! As I am now 44 years old and have lost 35 pounds, I was worried that my skin was not elastic enough to retract after the removal of fat and breast tissue, so I wanted Dr. Iteld to excise skin for a flatter appearance. As he explained to me, the removal of skin would result in two long scars under the breasts and he recommended I not go that route. I am glad that he did. The one thing that impressed me the most was the time Dr. Iteld spent with me. Two of the other surgeons I saw couldn't wait to leave the initial consultation, but Dr. Iteld spent close to an hour with me. The appointment was not over until all of my questions were answered. In fact, I felt like I ended the consultation, not the other way around.
