Secondary Face Lift to Correct a Poor Surgery by Another Doctor - Chicago, IL

In June 2016 I had a facelift. The surgeon was NOT Dr. Mustoe. The surgery left me unable to use normally the two sides of my face below the cheek bones. When laughing, the smile did not reach the eye but stopped well below the cheek bone. This was not only unpleasant to see but also it felt a little grotesque and painful. I saw Dr. Mustoe in December 2016. He explained that the likely reason of the problem was the use of permanent stitches wrongly applied, and indicated that he could resolve it by 85%. He honestly stressed that he could not promise full recovery. My surgery with him was three weeks ago, on February 20, 2017. I am delighted to write here that he was actually much more successful than he promised. He gave himself an A+ because of the difficulty of removing the stitches and underlying scar tissue without damaging the nerve. With the removal of the permanent stitches that held together skin and muscle I have regained the freedom of laughing without my face looking awkward and feeling a low pain. Therefore, I agree with him and I also give him an A+. Dr. Mustoe suggested other minor corrections, which I agreed to have done. Overall, based on my experience Dr. Mustoe is a very accomplished and highly skilled surgeon. I especially liked that he did not promise the moon and delivered more than expected. I highly recommend him for facelift procedures.
