60th Birthday Gift to Me! Thank You Dr. Shah - Chicago, IL

I don't like getting older, and I certainly didn't like looking older. For me, 60 sounds old, but I love it now when people are stunned by my age. After I retired, the only thing I wanted was a facelift--no parties, no presents just a turning back of the clock. I do spend a lot of time and cash on my face. Ok. Other women like exotic vacations or fancy cars or shoes and purses. Personally, I could not stand looking in the mirror at an old face. I have always been pretty and to see that going was depressing. So, I started the hunt for the right man for the job. The first picture was taken on February 9th, 2017, 5 days before my facelift/necklift with Dr. Shah. For 2 years, I read reviews on Realself and interviewed 7 different surgeons in the Chicagoland area until I decided on Dr. Shah. My decision to have him preform the surgery came down to these factors: he is a board certified facial plastic surgeon-the only one who only does faces, he is young with a steady hand, he is very intelligent and confident in his abilities, Shah is caring, he told me he was excited to operate on me, and we'd have fun. I was all in. Below you can see my progress, week by week. I am just past the 8 week mark and still improving. The surgery itself was done under a general anesthesia, so I don't remember a thing, and the first couple of days are a blur, but recovery is not swift. You definitely need a good 3-4 weeks before you want to be seen without a lot of questions. Most people don't notice the difference or just say I look great and ask if I'd lost weight. Let's say I am so happy I had the surgery and would do it all over no doubts!

Today, marks 4 months and 1 week. I had a light laser to the face on my last visit on May 30. The treatment makes the skin pretty flawless. Most of the discoloration from sun damage is gone, but the area around the eyes is still a bit pink.
