Still a little tenderness like a bruise feeling if I press under my chin. For the most part, I am still numb under my incision. it feels like the muscle is tight, so I've been massaging it every night and every morning to loosen it up and create that 90 degree angle instead of a slope. so since I have has is about 2 months ago, I have seen some people that I haven't seen since the surgery. Would you believe it, that nobody has noticed that I've had work done!?and it's not like they are looking at me weird and just not say anything, they really do not notice..

Not too different from the front...except no double chin. Minimal swelling, but still less than when I had those fat chins. Haha

No pain...some numbness....I heard you're supposed to wait up to six months to see the best results, but I only noticed a little bit of swelling, & I wonder if its swelling or if its fat? Hard to tell. Anyway here is a picture of me from the side. I still hate taking pictures!I have no other issues, no lumps, no pain. No difficulty speaking. Only numb under the chin nowhere else. No one can tell what I've had done.....some have asked if I lost weight! Going to visit my hubby who hasnt seen me since before the surgery...you think the swelling will go down even more in 3 more weeks???

YOU LOOK AWESOME! It doesn't look like it needs to go down, but I'm sure you are still swollen from the lipo. I know I am! You don't have any lumps? Wow! I have a lot.
April 12, 2015
Thanks! No lumps any more... I'm just wondering if he sucked out enough fat. Lol
April 12, 2015
You look great. Are you happy with Dr shah? Who else did you consult with in Chicago? I live here. Thank you!

April 12, 2015
Wauw, you are looking good! Swelling is still very normal for 3 weeks post. I'm 7 weeks post now and still have swelling. They say 6 months is normal... Pleas keep us updated about you're hubby's reaction :D
April 14, 2015
It has been 6 months for me, and I still have a bit of numbness. I can smile again, but my lower lip will not produce a full smile. This may be permanent.
April 14, 2015
Screw that. I'm not getting an implant. I read these reviews and there is lumps, numbness, pain, swelling that can take a year to go away (maybe). Unless you're chin is seriously NOT THERE, I don't think it's worth it. And about 99% of the pix I see on here hardly make a difference anyway. And who knows what kind of weirdness you're setting yourself up for down the line with some gortex substance resting against your jawbone? Good luck all but I don't think it's for me.

Well...I just wanted to say that I have no problems at All...no one can even pin point what I have done, and I work retail, so I see a lot of the same customers. Only a few thought I lost weight. I'm so glad I did it....wish I would have years ago!!! To me it's a huge difference. I'm just not a picture person.... No weird side effects here!!

Oh, sorry it's probably meant for boogwood. I was hesitant to put up pictures at first...it's kinda embarrassing and kinda a vanity issue. Bub, you should do it! It's so worth it...but your chin isn't bad like mine was!!

If it was meant for me...I wasn't a member of this site when I had the work done. I also didn't let people take side pictures of me, because I was embarressed. It just burns me that people like you who haven't had anything done start ragging on people who have had the procedure done, and I do have experience with the results. I think you can tell a bit from my front pics, too, but that's because I tried Radiesse before the implant, and I'm waiting for it to dissipitate. I guarantee you I had this procedure done by Dr. Blair/Hurricane, WV. It cost me $4,000. I'm happy with the results, and I've had other procedures done (that I don't regret). It takes guts to get plastic surgery, because you aren't guaranteed you'll love the results, you give up other luxuries to pay for the procedure; you have to hide until you feel comfortable going out into the public. If you're not getting this done, because you're too afraid...or you can't find a doctor you trust..why are you creeping this wall and harrassing patients who want real advice and discussion? If you're still a doubter...send me your email, and I'll mail you two front views, which should show some difference in my chin/not enough to make me feel uncomfortable. But, for the first time in my life, I don't mind side pics. I also had chin/neck lipo, and I have no double chins/a nice profile...yes, I took a risk, but without risk, there are no results.

Nope wasn't for anyone here. I got confused, I was aiming that comment at ckeegan? Another Shah patient that had a glowing review with no pix. Sorry for any confusion.

WV, I looked through your posts and you seemed to have had some real complications. You couldn't smile? Numbness? That does not sound good. If you're happy that's all that matters and I would get it done it I was confident that it was worth the gamble but I'm not sure it is. I don't want numbness, nerve damage, an inability to smile or sleep normally.
April 15, 2015
All of the complications subsided. All plastic surgeries have complications with swelling and bruising. This one actually had the least bruising of all the plastic surgeries I have had done, even with the lipo thrown in. I know I had a good plastic surgeon, with greatest bedside manners...funny, kind, made me feel comfortable (and mine was done in his office under a local). I had no pain during the procedure. I think if I had complications at all, they were just temporary, and I shouldn't have gotten Radiesse right before I had this done. Now I know Radiesse does last, because I waited for the filler to go down, and as it and the minor swelling subsided, I regained my smile, the numbness went away, etc. I would definitely get one done outside of the chin. And, the little bump I had after my surgery that this patient also has was taken care of with a blip of laser (no charge). I can't tell you how good it feels to look in the mirror (at 56) and have a chin/no fat or skin hanging under my chin...none. I'd do it again, and I will do the lipo again (when it's needed). I really, really hope you take into consideration how this will have a positive effect on your self esteem, as it did mine.

Seriously. This was the best thing I could have done. Trust Dr Shah or maybe just go for a consult! You'll be glad you did!!!
April 19, 2015
Ps. The only side picture I ever had (intentionally) was the one you see here...waiting for the procedure in his office! Lol. I know how you feel!!!!

Bub - I think you hit on a lot of important points that are oddly missing from 99% of posts which simply oooh and ahhh about the immediate effects of surgery. The issues of extrusion, skin thinning even necrosis from the implant pressure, bone thinning etc. are not discussed because people who would be in a position to know, i.e. operations that took place years or decades ago don't seem to post on these sites. I've read two doctors on realSelf who say that in 5-6 yrs most implants are removed for one reason or another. Nerve damage etc. would be a disaster.
At that point Sliding genioplasty becomes interesting but then it has aspects that are even more daunting in some ways. slicing a piece of bone of the chin and screwing it back with a plate. That procedure has its risks as well. It seems the science of it has much more to go. The ultimate answer undoubtedly will be in genetic engineering but it seems things are far from that point right now. And when you consider the implications of silicone vs Medpor vs gortex etc. it is shocking that many people who have these procedures can't even tell you what sort of material was used in their face. Doctors should be required by the AMA to give full disclosure on all these things. Not everyone does their homework. But even if you do doctors disagree with each other on so many things ... it's a minefield.

Hello. Yes. Very happy. I'm just not a picture person. Lol. Consulted Moynihan ...don't waste your time or money with him. Estimate was 6200$ Shah has a ton of before/after pictures in his office!!
