Finally Doing Something About my Chicken Legs

I think this will be my last update. The incision on my right leg has closed and is healing well. The swelling is gone and the photos should show my final results. Maybe I am being too nit picky but I am somewhat disappointed with the results of my right leg (left in photos). The medial (inside) implant looks smaller or else it is positioned differently than the left medial implant. 'This seems much more noticeable from the front. Overall, I like the results. Please feel free to give me your opinion! I can say now that I'm mostly glad I went through with he surgery. I went from chicken legs to thin legs which was my goal. I'm back in the gym and walking normally. There is no pain and the implants feel like part of my legs. The only issue I have is numbness or loss of sensation in a 4" X 4" area in the back of my right calf and a spot near my right ankle. I'm hoping the sensation will return. Thanks to those of you who gave me support an well wishes.

Ive had sensation issues on right leg as well (on which I had sciatica due to disc hernia) and the functionality decreased since surgery but otherwise leg has caught up with left. Though almost a year out from surgery its a lot better my right foot isnt normal so that I must always wear a sock or passed slippers at home to walk comfortably. On the other hand having hit the gym since jan ive grown my calves from 14,5 post surgery to 16.5 or so so I am very happy comfortably wearing shorts and my friends who called me chicken legs have bowed to the new look )))

Interestingly, though Ive been body building for years and Ive done calves hard Ive never trained them as consistently hard and harder than post surgery once I was able to get back to the gym. Putting 2 inches post op (not including the implant) is pure muscle growth which I am happy with for sure. I do have an in grown nail causing pain on my right foot which i need surgery for and once thats done and im painfree ill start hitting right calf even harder. I am certainly happy having done the surgery... the implants look amazing on muscular calves, the volume they give is worth every $ spent... Ive detailed my journey on my profile with photos. Goal is to get to 18 inches in the coming two years if I can hopefully.

How many inches were they before surgery just to give a rough idea on how much was gained with surgery. Interesting to know that you could gain a solid 2 inches of muscle growth after surgery! I am stuck with 13.5" and no matter how hard I train my calves they pump up to about 14" and then shrink back to 13.5" .

Roughly... from April 2016 I have left 15 right 14, June 2016 14 3/8 and 14 2/8 (which I noted was surprising because left looked much bigger) Jan 2017 15 7/8 and 15... but my weight drops easily and specially legs and calves when not training so since I was in bed and barely walking for over two months I think they shrunk big time. Now the question will be will be able to break through the 16.5 and 16....

Looks great! I just got out of the surgery 2 days ago. How long did it take the scars to fade away? and did they get bigger/expand after a few or more months of surgery?

Still having trouble with my right leg. I went in to have my stitches removed and the incision opened up most of the way. I'm not sure if this happened due to the hematoma in that leg. Luckily, the implant was not exposed. My local doctor said he would not advise trying to re-stitch it and decided to let the skin form from underneath- with the help of a wound vac machine. This will mean a large, ugly scar. So for the next 2 weeks I have to walk around with a tube attached to my dressing and a small machine that sucks up fluids from the incision site. I'm trying to have good attitude about this. On the positive side, I like the increased volume of my new calves. I whited out the scar in my photo as it's pretty scabby and nasty looking.

Any updates? Yours look great!

Thanks for sharing as your experience gives a great insight of what to expect. Really hope everything works out well for you. Just one question, could you please tell me how many inches you're calves were before surgery and how many inches they are now? My calves look like yours prior to surgery and it would help if I can get a realistic figure of what I can achieve if I decide to go ahead with surgery.

Hey girl! Hope you’re enjoying your new legs. I got mine done November 2018, best thing I’ve ever done! I didn’t have any complications except I couldn’t walk too long without getting swollen ankles other than that I was ok. I do want to get another set next year I think, depending on how my thighs turn out (if they get bigger) because I’ve been doing a lot of gym life now and leg exercises. Anyway, enjoy :)

My right leg is still swollen and more painful than my left, but the pain has lessened greatly. No doubt, the hematoma will lengthen my recovery. Overall, it was a miserable 10 days, and I'm thankful to my friends and family members who helped me with meals and had to endure my whining. I have to admit, I don't think I would have gone through with it had I known how painful the recovery would be. I'm sure down the road it will seem worth it. On the plus side, my calves look much better- Dr. Shifrin did a great job. I'll post photos soon, once the swelling in my right leg goes down a bit more and the stitches come out.

Hi Shumester. I agree with your assessment of your right calf. Additionally, the implant shouldn't be prominent. However, it is an improvement and most people wouldn't notice the slight difference. Enjoy your new calves!
