Question regarding workouts

To all you ladies who have had your BA's and went under the muscle... How did you get back into your workouts for your upper body!? It doesn't hurt when I flex my chest muscles... But it just feels awkward and kinda scary. For example at the park they have the zip lines you hold onto and slide across the bar... Or just hanging on a bar or monkey bars! I'm afraid to flex my muscle to hold my body weight :s I never thought of this being an issue. I am afraid if I flex to hold my weight I will rupture the implant or hurt myself lol probably all in my head... Any tips/advice/suggestions?
I will talk to my PS on my next visit but its not for a couple more weeks

I was going to say to talk to Epstein about that. Had you posted this sooner I would have asked for you (while at my appt today) bc I would like to know as well. Either way, when you find out let us know! I did ask Erin (the nurse there) about the flexing and the muscle holding onto the implant and if it will always be like that... I forgot her answer though...lol. I know people who have them and i do not hear them complain so I think eventually you either gets used to it and they become part of you (you never noticed your muscles to that before, right?) One girl is really into fitness and does lots of lifting so I think for now you probably take it easy and work your way into it. Im going to start getting into my workouts in a week and already know im going to avoid any pushups or planks...

Just an FYI I can't do push ups,, like I said feels weird but I can't do planks no problem! Weird right?? Anyway good luck
September 20, 2013

Lol I knew what you meant! Yeah I can do planks too! Haven't even tried push ups. But I was at the park with one of the kids I watch and I used to always play on the zip line with them and she asked me to go across and I tried without even thinking about my new situation! And BOOM ! Realized I couldn't hold myself up
September 20, 2013
Ok cool and thanks :) I don't know why I didn't go this route in the first place?! Lol
September 20, 2013
Hmmm that has to be a weird feeling...poor kids....wondering what happened to their nanny. I've tried doing random things and it's so surprising on how often we use these muscles! I do hope that one day oir bodies adjust and it feels normal or at least close to it. Its prob the only downfall to having these things!

My surgeon told me "Protect your investment, stay away from chest exercises." Just one of many reasons I'm removing mine.

Really? Wow... I honestly never even thought about it until now. How long have you had yours?

Little over 4 years. Direct chest exercises force the implants out of the pocket, that can cause problems...I just dislike the feeling, so I've avoided it, but really look forward to doing pushups, etc again. Many female body builders get theirs over muscle, to avoid the issue. You could do the exercises, it's just a gamble.
September 20, 2013
My PS said no direct chest exercise ever again,, ie: push ups/ chest flys. Fine with me cuz I tried and it just feels way too weird. My implants get pulled to the side. I do have a bunch of friends that have no problems with chest tho! I'm back to everything else pretty much and heavier weights. Pull overs still feel really weird to me so u don't do those either. I'm ok with no chest since it makes my workout time shorter, LOL. It's different for everyone if course though,, see what your PS says. Let us know too cuz I'm curious!!

Really :s probably would have been helpful had I considered that before getting my BA ... It probably wouldn't have changed my decision. But I guess I just hadn't thought about it. I like to be as active as possible. I love races and obstacle courses. They help me to push myself to new limits and train hard. It's one of the main things that keeps me in somewhat decent shape! Now I've been thinking about training and stuff for next years races and that when this question arose. So no pulling myself up and over 12foot walls? Or up a rope and what not!? Meh!....I mean I know I can find other things to keep myself fit but... That is a huge bummer. I may have to let go of my love of obstacle courses ...cuz skipping an obstacle isn't an option for me! Or! Now my mind is racing... What if I slip off a ledge and have to pull myself up!? What then...I'm not able? I'd just fall and die... I know ridiculous thinking...but I'm serious that is somewhat annoying to me. Angry I didn't take that into consideration
September 20, 2013
See how your body reacts! Like I said I have a lot if friends that have unders that have no problem doing chest at all. Make take you a bit to get used to it but there is hope!!! It's all individual!!
September 20, 2013
No u would fall and die. You may just rupture a boob...lol. people have had these things for many years and tou never hear of this til you get them so I'm sure it can't be too bad and ur body adjusts.

Wouldn't ** oops...lol

Hi Urnot4go10! I had my 1 year check up at the beginning of August and all is great! I need to update my pics! I haven't been on the site for a while. I spoke with Dr. Epstein about the upper body workouts. From what I understood it depends on what type of implant you have. For me I chose smooth round silicone. Dr. Epstein said that it was ok to work out the upper body. Smooth round implants can continue to be massaged and using the muscle he said actually continues to do that. He said I could do small movements/workouts not to strenuous to start. With all that being said... I have continued my workouts as normal. However, the was my chest muscles are now used definitely is different and feels rather awkward. I am getting used to it over time. After the surgery I couldn't even hang from a bar. Now I can. I still do push-ups...but not full ones. I do mini everything. Although Epstein said it's ok he said to go slow start light. I'm tending to stay in that zone just out of caution and comfort. I still do planks also. I've read a lot about it and it seems everyone has a different answer. I'm listening to my body and doing what's best for me. At times I wish I could have went over the muscle so that it wouldn't affect me so much... But I would have been more unhappy with the results I'm sure..having such little breast tissue to begin with I definitely would have been able to see the implant thru the skin. So overall I am happy with my decision. At times I do wish I could be more physically capable with my upper body tho. Comes down to what matters more to you I guess. Ultimately I'm happy. I made a compromise . I can be physically fit/healthy but also have boobs however I will probably never be able to do everything I challenge my upper body to do. I hope this helps some! It's definitely good to be thinking of every possible lil thing :) Dr. Epstein has been great! I actually scheduled an appointment last week because I felt some tightness in my left breast and got a little worried. He took a look and a feel and it was nothing with the implant ! I was close to me period and it could have been a cyst or just muscular from my workouts. It was nice though because he told me it didn't impress him (meaning there was nothing to be concerned about) but he didn't make me feel dumb at all for coming in. And I like that there is no extra costs for follow up visits! So and questions or check ups it can just go whenever I need. :) Oh by the way I still do insanity... Love it! Sometimes I just stay in plank instead of the push-ups if I feel it's too much or I do girl push-ups lol still a great workout!!! Good luck!

Insanity!

User Avatar

So last night was my first workout with Insanity Post Op... OMG! I got thru it but thought I was going to die from lack of oxygen haha I am so out of shape! It's sad. But overall it went well. My new editions were tucked away in a nice tight sports bra for max support. So there was no real pain boobage wise. A little uncomfortable at times but mainly because I'm not use to flexing my chest muscles with the implants yet... Not painful just odd and somewhat gross feeling cuz it's a new sensation. The only things I left out of the workout was the push ups and Burpees . Instead I stayed on the ground in a plank position. Can't wait to hit my next workout!!

sorry it took me so long to get new pics up!
I have been really slow about getting into my workout routine again. I feel sluggish a lot haha. I am very happy with the size and shape so far. I will admit ...here and there I do get a little bit of boob greed and think....hmmmm maybe I should have gone HP or something... but I think this was the best decision for me. I am still able to hide them or show them off. they definitely look bigger when im topless! However I expected that... I feel as though I basically just had the PS give me a semi permanent double cup bra since I look the same in my clothing as when I would wear my bombshell! however now I have cleavage to go with it :) overall no real complaints. If I had to have one it would be that me left nipple is still really numb. and the right is hypersensitive! but at least I can get the left one hard so I know I havnt lost all sensation and with time I am sure it will come back! I will be overjoyed once I snap back into my workout and diet routines and can start building back some abs...... I was a bad bad girl after surgery as far as diet went :S Hope all you other ladies are healing well!!!

Thanks! Yeah I was pretty excited to be able to put on the flimsy bra and have boobs to give it shape so it wasn't two flat triangles on my chest! I read your profile and I think the 400ccs will look awesome on you :) my pocket couldn't fit more than 371cc so I went to the max. I could have went HP but they wouldn't have looked as natural and they wouldn't have had as much cleavage so the moderate plus is great for me. I'll be following you on your journey! I went crazy waiting for mine! It was/kinda still is an obsession haha

Haha ya same for me I don't want high profile! I'd rathe go just a bit smaller :) and thanks :D and ya I'm sure it's still exciting I just know I'm going to obsess about them when mine are done :p

Yes I know! I can't stop wondering how they will look one or two more months down the road!! Your results look great :) I like the modesty birds you added to you one pic! So cute hehe
User Avatar
August 29, 2013
Yeah I am definitely still obsessing haha and my boobs still fit in my old wardrobe however it makes a huge difference having cleavage in it as opposed to wearing my bombshell bra with some cleavage but no real upper fullness... So needless to say I've been having a blast trying on all my clothes again!

Thanks. Weird but it worked, lol!! I tried on 2 different sports bras today and was shocked when the 34 C was too small in the cup on both, whattt?!? I am measured next week, so I will see but I did not think I was a D!
