WORTH IT
I've been getting laser genesis treatments almost monthly for years and have never had a bad experience or adverse results. I definitely contribute my skin texture, reduced pour size and lack of wrinkles to these treatments. I had acne as a teen that lasted into my mid 20's. I have always had oily skin and still get white heads and the occasional blemish, at 51 I thought I'd be done with that. I get an extracting facial and microdermabrasion every other month to remove white heads and for overall skin maintenance. The acne left scars and enlarged pores that, like everyone else, caused a lack of self esteem and self confidence. I was also very into tanning, from the sun or artificially. I started doing laser genesis treatments about 10 years ago. I really liked the results - smoother skin, improved texture, smaller pores and an overall skin tightening effect....all these results were very subtle but still noticeable and commented on my others. Because of that I started doing the treatments monthly with the occasion break, usually during the summer since the sun can diminish the results (yes, i do wear sunscreen and have stopped tanning.) Last Fall I took a break to try dermapen treatments. I did 6 treatments and I did not like the results, it left my skin lumpy and my acne scars which were extremely diminished from the genesis now looked more pronounced. I know others love the dermapen results but I wish I had never done it. Regarding the cost of Laser Genesis, I typically purchase package deals from groupon, livingsocial or lifebooker so my average price per treatment is about $100. Having had it done by several different technicians I can definitely say some are far more experienced than other. And to get as much out of the treatment as possible, I suggest that right before the tech starts the treatment ask if they will also do your neck, most will without charging you extra and its a nice plus because it helps prevent sagging under your chin. Also, a side effect of many treatments is it has a similar effect as laser hair removal, it has really reduced the amount of hair on my face which i don't mind but i have noticed that my eyebrows are not as full as they have been, I now ask the technician to avoid the brow area or cover my brows. I can't say enough about how happy I am with the results. DVida Spa in Chicago is where I had my last 3 treatments are they are great. These photos were all taken this year, I turned 51 in January.

Thank you for this review! I recently just started genesis treatments and just had 2 so far but am planning to have 6 plus 3 microdermabrasions in between. When would you say you really were able to notice results? So far after the two I'm not noticing anything major but am told it takes time. Hoping to love it as much as you when I'm done!

Hi, because the results are subtle I would suggest that you take a before photo and another one after your 3rd or 4th treatment, that's when I started to notice the results. Laser genesis stimulates collagen so with continuous treatments the collagen continues to be stimulated and that may be the best result of all since one of the components of aging skin is decreased collagen. I hope you are happy with the results, post your before and after photos.

Tomorrow will be one week after my 4 th treatment and I'm very discouraged. I've seen improvement in my skin tone but not with texture which I was really doing it for. I still have 2 treatments left. Do you think if I'm not seeing results by now that I probably won't??

Hi, did you do a before photo? if you have 2 more treatments then judge after you are done. I would have done 1 treatment every 3 weeks, maybe a little less than 3 weeks. Also, the results are not immediate. Its known for being one of the few treatments that actually stimulate collagen so although you may not think you are seeing much change you are still benefiting from the collagen stimulation. Perhaps it works better on some people than it does for others. I can also say another factor is the technician performing the treatment, i have never had burns or blisters but for me i think it works best when it really heats up my skin.

I haven't had any burns or blisters either but some spots do feel like they're burning when she's doing it and she moves to another spot. Tomorrow is my 5th treatment so I will see after that if I can notice anything. I do have my photos which also show no change :(

Just be grateful you have had "no change"! Scroll through the archives here on this site for laser 'regret/damage/fat loss/sweat glands not working/hypo& hyper pigmentation/orange peel texture, nerve damage, fat loss, dents, burns" you will find plenty! Days and days of reading.

You have beautiful skin! Thank you for sharing what works for you. I'm going to try the genesis because of it.

Hello Sean,
12 treatments a year for 10 years = 120 treatments. That's a lot of laser. At what point did you see a significant improvement? And don't you think that at some point, continued treatments don't provide additional benefits? Thanks you and continued success.

Hi, I average about 10 treatments a year but I was not doing that many treatments the first few years. I can tell when the tightening affect starts to relax and then schedule an appointment. The quantity may seem extreme but I'm happy with the results and don’t plan on changing my regime any time soon. I’ve been told by several technicians that some clients get a laser genesis done every 4 weeks...like having a facial done every 4 weeks. I'm confident that if there are others who do the treatment that often then they too must be happy with the results.
But, I'm not saying that's what everyone needs to do. I was simply reporting on the laser genesis and what has worked for me….and I’m often told I look younger than my younger siblings.

You look great!! I'm 48 and have been using Genesis laser for the last 2-3 years on and off..I can always tell when it's time to go back, because I can see my pores a little more. It's the BEST at minimizing pore size and I ALWAYS get comments about how good my "skin looks lately " when I start the treatments again!! Keep it up!! Who cares the cost of it makes you feel good about yourself!!

Thank you! And, i dont find the cost to be that expensive. I've been going to Elle Homme for the last few years. Last year they had a black Friday special, 3 treatments for $300 and it came with a bonus of 3 extra treatments - 6 for $300, it was a great deal!
Your skin looks great, it's glowing! Thank you for sharing your story and photos here on RealSelf.
