I could not have been happier with the entire...
I could not have been happier with the entire experience of this life changing operation thanks to Dr. Shifrin and his entire team.
First off let me say that plastic surgery is something that should be taken seriously and that it's a decision that, depending on the procedure, will often leave you with scars. That is just the reality of having surgery and something to be prepared for. I can without a doubt say that going into surgery with a positive mindset and with realistic expectations makes a world of difference during recovery. With all that being said, Dr. Shifrin has transformed my body and from the moment I walked in for my consultation I knew he was going to be the doctor for me.
The office staff is fantastic. A very warm and welcoming group of ladies who genuinely made my visits such a pleasure. Dr. Shifrin's demeanor is very relaxed and comforting and the way he approaches his consultations and offers his recommendations is incredibly genuine and authentic. I never felt pressured into making decisions, rather I felt guided towards the options available to help me achieve the goals I had for my body. When you are dealing with something as personal as it gets, your body, it's reassuring to be in the presence of a professional who makes you feel comfortable. I can not stress enough how important it is to be comfortable with your plastic surgeon.
As for the procedure itself and the day of surgery, it was an overall great experience filled with wonderful people and went beyond what can be expected when you're about to have a close to 5 hour surgery.
My surgery was performed at a Surgical Center about 40 minutes outside of downtown Chicago. I arrived early in the morning, was checked in and got prepared for surgery. When Dr. Shifrin arrived, he was very encouraging and ready to get to work. He marked up my body for the procedures and then I was whisked away to the Operating room.
When I awoke in recovery I was definitely pretty groggy and in some pain, but nothing too severe, which to be honest I was pretty surprised about. While everyone's pain tolerance is subjective, mine happens to be rather high, skill and surgical expertise definitely play into overall recovery. At this point, you are also wrapped up like a burrito in a surgical garment meant to keep everything compressed. I hung around in recovery for a bit to make sure I was ok, and that I would be ok for the ride back to my hotel. Also, walking is CRUCIAL after a surgery like this, and was something I had to do in recovery before I could leave. That was quite difficult but again very typical. I did not see Dr. Shifrin again that day as he has surgeries stacked, however, I saw him the next day for my post op exam.
My post op appointment went great. Everything went spectacularly and I have to say the incision looked pretty darn good for what it was. I had several drains in place to handle fluid build up, also pretty standard and had 2 removed before my return back to new york. I, in my opinion, and apparently, Dr. Shifrin's entire staffs opinion, made a pretty remarkable recovery in just the first week alone. I was feeling and getting around pretty well given the extensive surgery I had just undergone. I think several factors played into this, my relatively young age, being in good health, and just how happy I was with my experience with Dr. Shifrin, his team, and his skill set.
I will update and add picture when I can. I would 100% without a doubt recommend Dr. Shifrin in a heartbeat.
