Miradry for Odor - Chicago, IL

Why it takes some time to kick in

WORTH IT$1,500
I've been undergoing laser hair removal treatment recently and it occurred to me that, maybe the reason it takes a few days or even a couple weeks for the odor reduction to kick in, is because the hair follicles have to fall out. The Miradry kills off most of the hair follicles as a side effect, but these don't fall out right away; it takes some time. These hair follicles are likely trapping bacteria and, until they fall out, you'll still experience some odor.

That is not scientific AT ALL, but just seemed plausible to me. Anyway, if you've had Miradry, be a bit patient in the first several days. It's worth the wait!

Another success anecdote!

So, I'm working in Saudi Arabia and have to wear an abaya at times when I go out (long black covering - in most cases, all polyester, NOT breathable). Yesterday I was out in 100 degree F/38 degree C heat wearing the following: polyester blouse for work, cotton long-sleeved cardigan, AND the polyester abaya on top of all of that. I was outside for about 15 minutes straight, mostly in sunlight, around 1pm, so was quite sweaty. Then went back to work and went on with my day. When I got home at 6pm, I checked my armpits. I had applied a regular-strength deodorant that morning. NO ODOR. Absolutely amazing. Back home in Chicago, I would have stunk wearing regular clothes, after a 20 minute train ride, on a warm (not hot) day, even with prescription-strength deodorant.

I HIGHLY recommend this treatment if you suffer from bromhydrosis (or hyperhydrosis, I imagine). This really changes your entire life and is well worth the money, even if you have to do a payment plan or something... I wouldn't say that about most "cosmetic" treatments (I would say, save your pennies first) but in this case, I say go for it as soon as possible. I have a nagging suspicion that may have I failed to get a job once because of odor - wearing a suit and sweating out of nervousness during the interview... I was doomed before I even started. So from that perspective, it's a very worthy investment.

Thanks again, Miradry.

~10 months out and still so thankful for Miradry

Just wanted to post a quick update to say that, ten months after the procedure, I'm still loving it and I don't think that the effect has decreased at all. I recently took a 24-hour journey (two long flights plus layover) and was alternating constantly between being overheated and sweaty, and freezing between the varying plane and airport temperatures. Pre-miradry, this would have been a nightmare - I would have been super stinky by the time I was halfway through the trip, and would have had to go and wipe down my underarms with wet wipes in the airport bathroom and change clothes (no joke). During this trip, I was able to keep the same clothes on the entire time, and I smelled just fine when I arrived. I had put on regular deodorant prior to leaving, but nothing more. Amazing. Still so glad I got this procedure.

Another bonus - my underarm hair mostly went away due to this procedure. There are still a few stray hairs that I have to shave, but I only do it about once a week. If I get caught "unprepared" in a situations here I have to show my armpits, the few hairs are not a concern as they're barely visible. Yay :).

What level did you do it on?
4 the first time, 5 the second.
Sorry I think the comment about the level was meant for 20Chicago10, not angel8. Sorry about that!
I'm SO sorry but at this point I can't remember for sure - I should have written that down in my review. If it was a 1-5 scale, then I want to say I had it done on a 4. I remember the PA I had saying that she was willing to be fairly aggressive the first time, in the hopes that I'd only need one treatment (which proved true, though I was only getting the treatment for odor, not wetness, per above).
I'm so glad to have found this website! I'm really considering doing the Miradry treatment for odor as well. I've been stressed and socially anxious because of it but I'm glad to hear all these positive stories! I'm glad you were able to share your experience it reassures me. I want the treatment for odor as well ( more for odor than sweat).
I am glad to hear that Miradry worked for you. I am getting it for odor as well. So do you experience any type of odor ?
Odor for me reduced by about 60-70%. I can still get odor if I don't wear any deodorant, but I only need to wear regular deodorant now, not prescription strength. With regular deodorant, the only time I noticed odor was after a night of sleeping in a very hot room (basically sweating for 8 hours solid).

I am actually going back to get a second miradry treatment in a of a month, since I only had one treatment originally. The reason is that I'd like to ideally not need to wear deodorant at all, since deodorant seems to be somewhat of an unknown from a health perspective. Since I had so much success with the first treatment and now have the financial means to do a second treatment, I figure why not.
Yes, I am going to receive my first treatment in the next few weeks. I am sure, I am going to probably need 2 to 3 treatments because I have been suffering from this for so long, there is a lot of bacteria, so that is probably the same problem for you. It is so expensive too :(
See how it goes for you after treatment #1, it may turn out that you are happy enough with the odor reduction that you don't need a second treatment. At the time of my first treatment, finances were a major concern for me so I get where you're coming from! I'm only having a second treatment now because I have a higher income due to a job change but it was the first treatment that made a huge difference; I only expect mild improvement with the second treatment. Best of luck to you during this journey!
So how are your arms doing since the first treatment . How much of the older was decreased?
