How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

2 years back I had an abdominoplasty with liposuction of the flanks with Dr. Stephen Zucker of South Bend, Indiana. The result left me with a deformed look, worse than I was and he wanted me to pay him $5000 more to correct it. When I gave him a piece of my mind, he agreed to do it for a fee of $1500, but I was not going to trust him again even if he was going to do it free.
Here is my review of the experience.

Needless to say I was devastated and sad with the outcome. I knew I had to get it but I found it very hard to trust another doctor. Dr. Zucker also had 5 stars though it later occurred to me that less than 5 reviews had pictures and most of them had only that one review, not even a question was asked by any of the posters. So learn it from me! Check the reviews carefully and try to find a doctor whose reviews carry pictures or at least the reviewer has made some other comment other than the review.
Anyway, after checking this site for so many months, I decided to go with Dr. Shifrin in Chicago. I did not consult with any other doctor. I totally placed my judgement on the reviews I found here. Because in my opinion, it does not matter what they tell you or how friendly or honest they appear to be at the consult. Appearances can be very deceptive and they may appear to be very confident and competent at the consult which, again, to me, does not mean much. To me what matters is whether the doctor can deliver the results and I feel the BEST way to find that out is by being able to see the pictures in someone else's reviews.
This is why that I am posting my pictures here. I am a very private person and am shy to share my pictures but I want others to benefit from reading an honest review like I did. I also want to do it as a gesture of gratitude to Dr. Shifrin.
As you can clearly see from the pictures, my sides were jutting out and looking very deformed prior to the surgery. Dr. Shifrin decided that I need a posterior body lift to correct the situation. Along with that, I had liposuction of my upper back, flanks, BB revision. He also lowered the scar in front.
I am very very happy with the results.
As for the surgery, it was less painful than last time (could be because no muscle repair of the abdomen) and I had only one drain. My biggest problem was I had severe itching. It was unbearable. He had to prescribe some drugs for it. I got so scared that it will not go away. Now I am 6 weeks post op and I am fine. The cut is very thin and clean. Another problem is the pigmentation around the scar. Could be partly due to my ethnicity. I am hoping the darkness will fade. I know I will have a dark scar around my body till I die but I can live with it.
I think the doctor is a bit expensive but I guess you get what you pay for. He is also very very busy.

Dr. Shifrin is an extremely likable person. He is very down to earth and extremely friendly. Confident in his ability. His office was quite responsive. Staff is nice. As I said above, what matters to me though is whether he is good at what he does and I think he is very competent. I have never had a waist ever in my life and suddenly I have one. It is amazing.
