I changed my mind-one last fraxel! Jan 2019

AnnaBurns
WORTH IT$2,600
Though my skin looked beautiful in comparison to before my fraxel/infini treatments I decided to get one last fraxel to 1.) diminish the scarring even further-though I can barely see it now 2.) get rid of a few red spots that developed over the years outside of the areas that were treated previously 3.) shrink pores and improve pigmentation around my nose. Decided to get a full face fraxel, Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927, for $1375 (:0 I am absolutely taking care of my skin after this!), and several different settings were used (deepest ones on the cheeks for the scaring, lighter around the rest of the face, not sure as to exact settings). The cheeks hurt a lot (highest/deepest setting) but the rest of the face was a cakewalk. I have noticed my face has become increasingly resilient to these treatments and I am less and less red after each fraxel. This one is the best yet, though similar settings to the first time I went in, I am just barely red at the moment (about 5 hours after the treatment) where I vividly remember looking like a tomato after my first time in. I will put a few photos of the cheeks up in a few weeks so you can compare them to a year and a half ago when I first started treatment. I have seen phenomenal results with fraxel (my classmates frequently mistake me for a 22 year old because my skin is wrinkle/fine line free!) and recommend if you are considering it to choose a trained and highly proficient dermatologist rather than a gimmicky medspa. The real professionals will likely charge more but personally I'm willing to pay for the best with something as irreversible as laser+face. I also get dysport from this dermatologist and she has done a wonderful job, my 11s and forehead lines are gone and I look almost a decade younger.

Day 2- Only lightly red but very swollen, cheeks are extremely puffy and face is slightly itchy. The day of a fraxel I wash anything that touches my face (pillowcase, wash cloth, towel etc), and try to avoid touching my face unless my hands are clean. I wash my face twice a day after the treatment (as I normally do) with a gentle Cetaphil and apply a sensitive, after-treatment lotion that my dermatologist recommended to keep the skin moist (https://www.aveneusa.com/collections/cicalfate/cicalfate-restorative-skin-cream). I will not put on any makeup for at least a few days after, but it's very important to put on sunscreen (I use EltaMD) if venturing outside.

Day 3-Cheeks are still swollen but the swelling has gone down a bit. Skin is itchy as the 'sandpaper' effect starts to take over, skin is reddish-tan. Still a bit uncomfortable going out in public, though I will note if it weren't for my cheeks it wouldn't be that noticeable. Again the cheeks received a more aggressive level of laser targeting the scaring, so perhaps if you had a 'lighter' form of fraxel just targeting pigmentation the downtime wouldn't be as noticeable.

I am so happy for you I just went through your journey and you are so brave to go through all these procedures, well done! . I started a month ago Obagi Zo line and i have noticed a dramatic change in in pigmentations However, my dermatologist suggest to go through infiniRF to shrink my pores and suggest intense level during my treatment with Zo Obagi.. wish me luck

good luck! I know my mother saw really good results from the Obagi line, but she too ended up combining it with in-office treatments.

Day 6- skin looks significantly better but still big patches of 'black sandpaper' that have yet to come off. I am very careful still while washing and do not exfoliate during the healing process. Swelling went down by day 5, should be another day or so before it looks completely normal.

Would love to see follow up photo!

I will take one in the next few weeks. I know the treatment is supposed to take a month or so to show results but I'm honestly a bit disappointed. I see absolutely no difference in my skin (pore size, pigmentation, texture etc) than before and it's been about 7 weeks now. My face is a lot redder than before and is breaking out fairly frequently, where as after the last fraxel I saw almost immediate positive results. Guess I'll have to give it a bit more time to see..will wait a few more weeks then post a photo.

Final updates

AnnaBurns
I have attached my before treatment and after treatment photos. My concluding remarks are that the fraxel was worth it but the infini was not (at least not for the results I was looking for). I still have slight scaring but it has improved dramatically, especially since I switched from infini to fraxel. The overall pore size, skin texture, and scaring has improved dramatically with my treatments and, though expensive, i no longer have to put cover up on to feel comfortable about my face. Hope these reviews have helped!

Just to let you know Infini takes 6 months to rebuild collagen so it definitely might have been the combo!

You're absolutely right, though i noticed more substantial results immediately after the fraxels as opposed to the infinis so i am inclined to think the fraxel is more effective (at least in my case). It may have been cumulative though!

4th Treatment (2nd fraxel)

AnnaBurns
Had my 2nd fraxel yesterday (after 2 infini). These treatment was, again, only on my cheeks (they can't just do the jawline where the scars are) and cost $900. While this is a bit high $$, I saw more results from the fraxel (Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927) than the infini treatments. The actual treatment itself burned quite a bit even after being numbed, but my face isn't quite as red as the first treatment. They say your skin gets used to the treatments and the recovery time is faster. Going on day 2 and my cheeks are puffy, a bit itchy, but not too red. I will update with results in the next few weeks, hopefully the scars are much less noticeable and I will be satisfied :0
