36 year old regretting getting cheek implants removed

Post-OP over a year...

I wanted to write all members who are thinking about getting cheek implants. I know everyone has a different experience and ultimately want to think positive which is great, but let me warn you about the things your doctor will obviously not mention.

These implants can shift, which the implant on my left side did, and my face looks deformed and swollen on one side. The implant was also was set incorrectly and is protruding above my eye socket. My smile looks like I had a stroke because one side has healed and the other now requires future surgery. The implants have caused bags under my eyes to increase in size because of the pocket around each eye has changed the shape and contour I naturally had. There is also a contusion or nerve hemorrhaging which has caused a build up of scar tissue which looks like there is a big bump on the left side of my face between the implant and my nose. I finally have met with another surgeon and we will be taking them out and doing buccal fat removal as well as laser fat removal between where the implants are and my nose is. This is what I should have done in the first place...there will be nothing foreign or silicone under my skin, that I never got used to, and frankly don't ever think I would. I looked like a chipmunk after the surgery and still do to this day years later. The effect you think you want is not even close to what I was described or had in mind, at least for me. Hope this helps anyone on the fence or having second thoughts. The surgery I described I'm getting will cost more, but the down side is a lot more minimal from what I gathered but is much more natural and changing your bone structure, just the skin around the bone.
