Initially I wanted to change the way my belly...

Initially I wanted to change the way my belly button looked. At age 6 I had an umbilicus hernia op. I had an unsightly scar from this and a belly button that my daughter describes as a 'Pine nut'. I acquired a lot of stretchmarks during pregnancy, mostly underneath the umbilicus. I also had a cesarean scar, but this was low down and neat.
I had visited a surgeon in the Derby area where I live but didn't feel comfortable about the meeting. It's impossible to describe, but if you don't feel right about something try not to think of the financial loss of the appointment.
After some research (I didn't want to travel to London) I found Mr Ross who seemed to have a lot of experience in this type of procedure, and this was clear at my first appointment. This was because he was thinking out aloud and came up with three possibilities for the outcome; in terms of whether he could remove the scar above the belly button, remove the old C section one or whether I would need a small vertical scar etc. I have to say I was scared about possible complications that can happen from having an operation, and I had this guilt that it was an unnecessary operation too.
My experiences of the Alexander Hospital were excellent, every member of staff and every visit so far. I have just been for my 6 week one and the second picture shows my result so far. Obviously the scar is very red looking but having had scars before they will eventually go white. Mr Ross managed to remove both my old scars and avoid the vertical scar, however I retained my 'Pinenut' although he did say that is could be an operation in the future. The problem apparently with some old scars the surgeon doesn't know what they will find until you are on that operating table.

Mr Ross was kind, approachable and professional. I think he aims to be a perfectionist, which is what you expect from a cosmetic surgeon. After all, reputation is everything.
