Basically my nose has always been a disaster!...

Basically my nose has always been a disaster! Between the button on the end (strictly speaking it's a bulbous tip but it's round like the kind you'd press in BGT), the bump on the top and the fact I never could quite breathe out of it I knew I'd need a nose job eventually! I looked around and settled on either Gary Ross (BMI Alexandra) or James Murphy (Spire Hospital) but after meeting with Mr Ross and then Mr Camilleri (ENT) I didn't even bother going to see Mr Murphy as I felt that Mr Ross understood what I wanted and didn't impose his opinions on me which is all I was looking for in a surgeon (as well as the obvious skill). I have attached before shots and will go into what the day of surgery was like in another post with some after shots.

Hey there, brave lady, did partially insurance cover your surgery.
I have a similar nose and would love to get a rhinoplasty.

Hi! I couldn't help on that really, we don't really do health insurance in the U.K. so I'm not sure whether it would cover it, any cosmetic surgery tends to be privately funded here! Sorry I couldn't be more help! X

Finally Got a Nose Job After 10 Years!

jessielou27

Day 1, arrived at hospital at 6.45am and a porter directed us to my private room, which was basically a hotel room, tv, bathroom, what more could you want!

Pre-op, nurses and staff were all very helpful, saw both consultants, anaesthetist who was lovely and nurses who bobbed in and out quite often to keep me updated. When I went down to theatre, a lovely nurse (I believe) kept me distracted from nervousness by telling me about her holiday, I then went to the room outside of theatre where the anaesthetist started asking me about holidays... next minute I'm awake after surgery! Bit of pain and sickliness as expected but the recovery nurse was quick to dose me up on morphine and nausea medication. Back in the room, nurses popped in every 30 mins to take vitals, ask how I was and if I wanted a drink then catering brought a lovely soup and salad (basically I had a nice day off work) and a nurse walked me downstairs after spending the past few hours in bed.  I managed to be discharged same day and home in time for the Brits so we'll see how it goes tomorrow! X

Congrats on your surgery. I will be looking forward to your after photos. Take it easy and baby yourself. Your doctor and nurses sound awesome. Glad you were finally able to get your surgery. I am currently just starting looking for a doctor in the US. I can't breathe out of one side of my nose at all lol. Same as you, allergies and ongoing problems. I promised myself that this year I would finally do something about it :)

I didn't even realise I couldn't breathe out of my nose properly until I saw the ENT! You get so used to breathing out your mouth that you don't know there's anything wrong! Ill be updating my progress on here so hopefully that might help you decide either way :)

Day 3 - feeling pretty fed up!

jessielou27
Nose ache is becoming an issue a never knew existed. The top of my nose and forehead are killing, hurts when I look down and 2 days of being home unable to do anything is getting annoying!
Pain isn't too bad, face is definitely swollen but the bruising isn't any worse (just a change of colour!).
